This was wild, and very horny. :mjlit:

I enjoyed it for what it was. I don’t know if it’s a Ti West staple, it sure feels like it at this point, but it seems like something is always missing at the end of his films. That missing X-factor in the climax that can put it over the top along with the greats, and it happened again for me here.

Didn’t really care for the subtext. I watch Ti West films to bask in the atmosphere and that 80s grind-house feel in the tension along with the kills kept me fed throughout. Movie felt like a homage to TCM (1974) at points and the porno shoot addition made for some hilarious, yet unsettling scenes.

Felt like Jenna Ortega stood out yet again in another horror movie, and I hope this is the new norm. fukk it, she’s my Scream Queen. Thought the rest of the cast did their thing and added to the humor and kinda surprised at the ones who actually had depth. Definitely not the film to watch with the family, cause these folks do not shy around with getting naked. :mjlol:

Supposedly they filmed a prequel in conjunction last year, and there’s some vague plot points that I’m hoping they’ll address in it. Pretty sure I still favor The House of the Devil over this but honestly, I’m just glad Ti West managed to give us something on the big screen.

My audience was rowdy and had a very good time with this.

When Ortega’s bludgeoned character scared the husband to death. :dead:

Recoil on the shotgun flinging ol’ girl outside of the damn house. :russ:

I’ll say, this film has a bunch of brutal moments with the kills but they did a nice job balancing out the seriousness with its humor. Casual viewers should have some fun with it at the very least.

Inside Ti West and Mia Goth's already filmed secret prequel to A24 slasher 'X'

The kills in this were good, yet I still wanted more chaos in the end.

Felt like the movie had a bit of a hard time living up to RJ’s death. As soon as those truck lights turned red from the blood splatter, I thought we were in store for even more insanity. Not to say the rest of the kills weren’t good, I liked how 80s it all felt, but that first kill was special.

Gotta say though, I was NOT expecting the camera to cut back to Wayne’s eyes getting forked out. That shyt was effective as hell. :damn::picard:

Reposting my review here.

I LOVED this movie. It was a great mix of camp, self-deprecating humor, suspense, and gore. There's a lot of self-awareness of what it is and what it's emulating. It was just really fun, IMO. The kills were great and gross, and I really like the way it ended. There's a nice little twist there that pretty cool and gave a double meaning to the title.

9/10 because they were doing these weird camera shots of the future while the present is taking place, but it only happens here and there, but overall, it's a great time.

This was DOPE! I expected to like it but I didn’t think I’d love it. The cinematography, the setting, the dialogue…everything was superb. If you’re not into slow burn then you may not like it but I highly recommend watching it.

I died, and the theater too, when
Jenna’s character convulsed and old dude became a bytch boy and jumped back
