X-Men: Dark Phoenix Official Thread (2018)

@ the reviews so far. I really want the X-men to have great films, but Fox just doesn't get it. I can admit that X1, X2, First Class, Days of Future Past, and Logan are decent movies. But still, even those movies wasted a LOT of great characters and didn't truly live up to their potential. They DEFINITELY never came close to matching the greatness of the 90s cartoon or the best story arcs in the comic books.

The people running Fox really should have hit the brakes like

when Kinberg was confirmed as the director of the movie. You know, the same dude that wrote X3

What hurts the most is that the Dark Phoenix Saga is so goatworthy in the comics, but since Fox has (apparently) botched it twice, the MCU won't want to touch it.

You'd be better off reading the OG Dark Phoenix Saga in the comics or watching the 90s cartoon version, because we'll probably never see it done justice in live action at this rate.

Captain Marvel most likely, the OG 3rd act was set in space, the Shi'ar were in the movie & Chastain's character was one.

Yeah man to me they put out some really great comic book movies like the ones you mentioned (X1, X2, First Class, Days of Future Past) & to me personally Logan is the best comic book movie. But they ____ed up going back to Kinberg who already monumentally ____ed up the the Phoenix Saga. I hope dude never gets near any comic book movies ever again, including New Mutants.

They should have shelved this movie. When I saw the screening I thought at least the big fans of the franchise would be into it, but even they’re shytting on it.

I'll probably check it out regardless since it's the ending to a franchise I've been following since I was a teenager, but it's whatever.

As long as it’s not terrible it deserves full price and you should go see it.

I think at worst we should all go see it to solidify “what happened should’ve happened & really needed to happen much sooner” and to dispel all those “Bu Bu Bu Bu Bu Logan” niccas.
