X-men Apocalypse is one of my personal fav movies of all time:blessed:

I know it’s not even good but the art style and everything just appeals to me

take Professor X, Magneto and Wolverine out* and name me a single character from the entire XMen movie franchise you'd go to bat for. The only ones I'd even entertain are Nightcrawler (for 1 action sequence in overrated ass X2), Deadpool (who shouldn't even count in this argument), and Quiksilver, who is one of the only "funny" characters in the entire run, and basically just has the 2 standout action sequences. He's the better Nightcrawler. Every single other character in this entire series has been a dud. Every single one.

these movies have always been meh, it's not revisionist history. If Fox was still a thing, I'd look forward to literally every other superhero universe over XMen. I'd be more pumped for Harley Quinn than the next X movie. I don't even know what Valient is, and I'd be more pumped for those. I think the only XMen movies I walked out of hyped was First Class, b.c it was fresh and Vaughn > Singer, and DoFP which was a half good movie.

*these 3 and all actors involved are plenty fukkin boring too. Jackman's Wolverine has earned the praise though so i won't knock the character... even though I'll look back on him and just think about Logan and nothing else. The other 2 are just old man playing point/counterpoint and then you get the occasional awesome Magneto breakdown. The younger versions are better, but still have a bunch of homotional snoozey scenes.

X2 was a great theater experience particularly because of Nigthcrawler's opening scene, the Wolverine fight scene at the mansion, and Magneto saving the plane. Otherwise, I'm not sure how well the movie holds up. It's been well over a decade since I last watched it.

I went into more detail sometime last year but the x-movies generally don't do that well box office wise. Spider-man does roughly the same huge BO gross regardless of if it's Sony or MCU brand, and that's despite having similar movie mileage/saturation as the x-men the last 20 years... so we'll see whether the MCU brand gives the x-men a huge boost, or whether the franchise really is just living off the nostalgia of a 1992 cartoon

i've said it before, I'll say it again, i don't want the XMen in the MCU for like 5 years. I want breadcrumbs and hype to build, but we need a palate cleanser from these characters for a while. In the meantime, let Deadpool operate in his own universe for a little while, have him cross paths with a couple MCU characters on their offday or something and leave it at that, b/c he doesn't fit. Start with the F4 and cosmic shyt, then come out with the MCU XMen in like 2023 at the earliest.

Yeah, that's my biggest issue with fox x verse, they literally have focused solely on them :snoop: And they basically lucked out on RR developing deadpool.

No way a IP as rich as x-men/mutant-verse should this happen. We should've had a Storm led team by now:mjcry:

you didn't like JLaw in terrible blue makeup being one of the biggest characters? or Halle Berry's wooden ass Storm? Famke Janson if that's even her name?

Really agree with this. You could give me F4/F4 villains in the MCU tomorrow and I would be hyped. But I want them to wait a long while before doing X-Men. Matter of fact I would prefer they were never in the MCU and were just their own thing. Maybe make it another dimension in the MCU at the most and they cross over once in a blue moon.
I love the MCU but I don't mind the X-Men franchise at all. All the flaws mentioned are definitely valid but at the end of the day most of the movies are good and First Class, Deadpool and Logan are great.

The next big event will probably be a composite of Hickman's modernized Secret Wars and the OG version... espesically since Infinity War is essentially Hickman's Infinity (black order, Wakanda fight) and the OG Infinity Gauntlet stuff...

In other words, all you really need is the Fantastic Four and Doom to lay the ground work over the next few years, esp if you're leaning into Hickman's version; who the Russos/Fiege seem fond of. Illuminati is a no brainer. I could also see them implementing what Jason Aaron is doing with Avengers/Agents of Wakanda right now, but that's a separate thought. Basically there's no rush to bring in the x-men and the general public have proven to be just as easily amused with a different property that isn't as valued by the comic neckbeards (i.e. GotG).

Let’s keep it buck..... unless we going back to the days of all the self contained with CBM.

There is really no legit reason or excuse why xmen shouldn’t be in the MCU.

Like they ain’t gotta alway be in each other’s movies kinda like currently a lot of the MCU movies already BEEN doing.

But to pretend they don’t exist to each other won’t make anymore sense.
