Well with Hennig he used names to honor his father and grandfather so it was still a way to have that connection and not be totally obvious.
All my point is names change all the time there.
True... and while I do like Rex Steiner a lot more, people also cringed at names like Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Finn Balor, Bray Wyatt... I remember all of those not getting the best reactions when they were revealed because people just wanted them to keep their old names. But as time went on,

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and would think they asked him if he'd be willing to use the Steiner name if they owned the trademark for it. It's not his real name, so it's not like he'd have a claim over it if he left for AEW. They did the same thing to Cody with the "Rhodes" name. But I think they eventually gave up the "Rhodes" name back to Cody because there was a brewing backlash about it.

It was reported the "Rex" name was suggested. Who is to say they don't use it later? Yeah maybe Vince just doesn't want the connection to the Steiners just yet.

So that's the names they'll use. It's as simple as that. And the overthinking, overbranding, overengineering shyt that stooges like you lap up is why the WWE product is so unwatchable.
