this conflict will always exist because you cant forget or ignore the fact that the attitude era took the company to the next level and kinda broke that 4th wall with wrestlers being characters, people want to cheer the good guy but that term is so subjective now, that its hard to figure out how to create a universally accepted face.

Your're defiantly right about how WWE books their top guy as a straight-baby-face. I just think the best way to approach it is just let them keep a little edge its okay if the good guy isn't a 100% saint all of time. Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart both had instances were they lost their cool, snapped, or bent the rules.Though, I think having a universally accepted face is a pipe dream in today's internet world. The curtain is pulled to far up for all that. I think their best bet is just do what their currently doing on a bigger scale by creating 2 or 3 different top characters to fit the need of their demographics.

I am not a Cena fan either but ..it is what is it...Cena is this generation Hulk Hogan and the only thing that can stop Cena is...John Cena.
Hulk Hogan killed the red and yellow Hulkamania but taking a break from Wrestling to go Hollywood and film that crappy show Blunder in Paradise ( plus the South didnt really connect with Hulk bc he was from that big company up North) So when he tried to come back hard body, his fans either stopped watching wrestling or the kids didnt connect with some old half roided up balding dude who threw some baby punches and did a leg drop...which opened the door for him to go heel and start fresh
