Punk took a shot at Sami Zayn too, but when was the last time Punk had a "match of the year"?
There wasn't any, if anything there was too much ass kissing going on.Watching Backstage right now and I’m not at all seeing the Becky/Punk animosity that y’all were referring to
I ... get what she's saying actually
I heard mostly just a roundabout explanation with no ending.
That all sounds nice but this just sounds like Becky being a try hard once again. I don't even hear them say women's division that much and I don't think anyone even notices. The truth is that she's gotten everything that she's wanted and she just needs to find something to rally against, and she's also the last person that needs to be fighting for more main event opportunities since she keeps stinking up the joint when she's in them. I knew it this was going to be a skippable episode when she showed up in a dress shirt and tie. They don't call the men's division "Men's Division." You know what it is.
I.E. when they stopped calling women Divas and everybody was referred to as "Superstars" that was a step in the right direction.
To Becky, eliminating "Women's Division" from conversation removes the implied segregation/differentiation between men and women and ideally, would allow women more main event opportunities on notable events given that they'd be effectively equals.

Now I understood the divas thing cause that was an era where women basically couldn’t wrestle and they wanted (and needed) to get away from that. Now why would a women’s division need to be eliminated? They’re women. Are you just fusing the men and women together with nothing but inter gender matches, something that the indies have already been doing for years (and getting slandered for)? I just don’t think what she was taking about at all is similar to the divas to superstars thing. They’ve been very heavily featured and have main scented quote a bit (though not necessarily the right women have been involved).
She's just like Cena, Charlotte, HHH, Hoegan, Flair, and other main eventers and that's they're not trying to give shine to anyone else unless they're involved. What made The Rock special is that he lost way more than any #1 wrestler should, yet it never affected his popularity one bit. You need to be a bit selfish in wrestling since it's so cutthroat, but at some point you end up becoming stale and people get sick of you. Becky has started to come under fire because her main events have been panned, and that's why she's going on this phony crusade about uplifting women.I agree with some of this. The thing about anti-authority/rebel figures is that they only work if they are doing more hunting than being hunted. My hope is that as the face of women's wrestling in the WWE she'd use her stature to get more chances for her co-workers.
She should have just dropped the hammer and basically said that there are more women who can main event besides herself and Charlotte. Women's wrestling will NEVER grow until their main events have variety.
My guess is that what she was driving at is the following:
"The following contest, scheduled for one fall ..."
"The following contest is a women's division match scheduled for one fall..."
Based on her argument/spiel ... the first thing should apply for all singles matches, men OR women. Basically a roundabout way of trying to get both genders on an even playing field without going full-on intergender. Don't eliminate the division. Eliminate the term. There's a women's champion so one can assume that there's a women's division and only women can compete for the women's championship. In her eyes, she thinks the existence of terms like "women's division" implies a 'special attraction' or sideshow element to it -- i.e. bathroom breaks/cool downs/shyt to pass the time until the shyt you actually paid to see comes on -- as opposed to the women being seen as viable main event-caliber talents.
The way I see it, it's a lot like how there's a FCS National Championship and there's a "HBCU National Championship" (the Celebration Bowl/annual Alcorn State vs. North Carolina A&T game in Atlanta is the de facto title game). While I guess I understand the point of the Celebration Bowl, if I were an HBCU I'd want to be in the FCS playoffs and the fact there is a HBCU National Champion crowned when every single HBCU doesn't have a fair shot at it ruins it for me, among other things. I digress though.
Man if A&T could somehow make the bowl playoffs...... that would be equivalent to our grandparents and greatgrandparents living long enough to see a black man become president
And if we won
I would literally cry
