Tough pill to swallow

We need Whiteside to re-sign to get Durant but can we afford both? Not with Bosh and Dragic taking all that cap space IMO. I always say IRWT (In Riley We Trust) but i just dont see how he pulls this one off. Especially knowing WhiteSide can easily be lured away by LAL or DAL which will promise him "franchise player" designation along with the max. Meanwhile WhiteSide knows he's the 3rd option here and he wants to be the first option.

If all fails (No KD or WHiteSide) i'm still good. Riley will find a way to put us on a path before he retires

I don't want to think about the future both short and long term if he goes. Winslow and Richardson the only two players with upside, no NBA caliber center or power forward, and older shooting guard, no draft picks, and little cap space, as well as a terrible coach?

I honestly think Durant is staying in OKC one more year on a 1 + 1 deal. Riley is just trying to plant the seed now for next year. We'll resign Whiteside on the max and pay Wade. We'll try to keep Deng as well and add some role players like a 3 and D guy and some depth in the front court. We'll see how it goes with Bosh, if he can't play he's gone and we make a huge push to sign Durant next offseason. If he's healthy and plays we have a team that can compete in the east at least for this year.
