Wade at 20 mil and Whiteside at a max brings the payroll to 91 mil between The starters (Dragic/Wade/Bosh/Whiteside), winslow, mcroberts, richardson, and webber alone. It's been reported the cap will be 92 million. Thats 8 guys, how do you realistically expect to field a team paying wade 20 mil a year, I'd love to hear it

I aint saying its fair but he had his chance to really get paid in his prime years, he chose to give up a true max in his prime to compete for championships. You said it exactly right, its business. You cant hand out contracts based on championships won 10 years ago
He's done so much for the franchise besides what he did in 2006. That contract wouldn't be based on what happened in 2006 only.

Missing the point. The contract shouldnt be based on what happened in the past at all. There's not a team on the market having negotiations with Wade starting at 20 mil. Yall gotta be damn realistic. What next we going to sign UD for the MLE after he gave up a big payday in 2010 for a discount here? If there was no cap then all this fairy tale legacy deal might make sense, but lets be reality

"What I’m telling you, no matter how much you laugh at it, is that the Heat is getting in the room with Durant. Now, what happens from there, who knows? But you can sit here and laugh at it all you want, but the plan, the construct is – the priority, the No. 1 thing this offseason – is get in the room with Durant.

"You do what you want with the information. All I’m telling you is priority No. 1 is not get Dwyane locked up, Whiteside locked up. No. 1 on the list is can you get the superstar that is the big get in free agency while also taking care of your people around that?"

In reality, unless we sign KD or unless Bosh comes back at full health, Wade is our best player. It wouldn't even be a legacy pay, especially based on how he played in these playoffs. He played for his check.

Where is this from?

Lebatard

According to Le Batard, Kevin Durant – not Whiteside or Dwyane Wade, who will also be a free agent – tops Miami’s list. Dan Le Batard of ESPN:“The plan is and always has been: Go after Durant and free everything up – so much so that you insulted your superstar this offseason by telling Dwyane Wade no on multiple years, even though that’s what he wanted.Dwyane, who deserves more of your allegiances as business and a company and management than Chris Bosh does. Because the whole thing is get in a room with Durant after this season.”

If third tier players like Tobias Harris and Wesley Mathews are getting $16 million deals, Wade should be worth $20 million. That's what I am basing it on. We might disagree on the numbers but they need to lock up Wade until he retires. Period.

I don't think the next year is gonna be a "winning" year for us so I wouldn't mind giving Wade a nice contract. This should be a year for growth for our young-ins.

Based on the moves they've made the last few years you can't take this to the bank, he's shown no willingness to go over the cap

I understand the cutting of payroll this season, they were going to be a repeater tax team...would have been 4-5 years in a row in the luxury tax...payroll would have been crazy..no team has been a repeater. Since we were under the cap this past year, we won't be considered a repeater...the payroll slashes..hurt us cause we coulda used a birdman..a stokes in that last series. But I get it..Mickey will cut the check

If Durant verbally agreed to sign with us then we'd sign him. All players say the same thing because it's true "the NBA is a business first" :francis:

The only way and I mean the only way I see Durant even leaving OKC is if they get blown out the rest of this series, then we got to deal with him following Bron footsteps shade the media would throw at him :francis:
