Notes from Riley's press conference today

-We've had a tough summer, period.

-What happened with Wade floored me. I'm going to miss what I had planned for him, the future, how I could see his end with the Heat. Great regret that I didn't put myself in the middle of it, get in a canoe and paddle to the Mediterranean if I had to. It's not going to be the same without him but we'll forge on and I'll miss him and we love him dearly.

-Bosh situation always fluid. I know what Chris wants, I know he wants to play. There's no answer if he's going to be on active roster as of today.

-Says after lebron left he has always been reaching, reaching, reaching for another guy to maximize team's ability to win and make Wade proud going into retirement. Wanted Wade to get his money but didn't want to jeopardize ability of getting another guy. Later says it wasn't solely a financial decision (comparing the $ value of contracts)

-There were 2 players they had in mind they would have went after in FA had they known how the Wade situation would play out but those players went off the board.

-We have a good base of young players. Next step is to see what they can do..what player emerges as "the guy", only time will tell.

-"Are we ready for Justise Winslow to start at the 3? I am. You guys put too much emphasis on what he can't do rather than what he can do" - same shyt I was saying all year :ohhh:

-We saw enough of Hassan in the last 2 years to say he was a very unique talent and worth the investment.

-When you look at the deals that were handed out the first 2 days of free agency..Andy and I are going to be getting a lot of calls on Dec. 15 from teams trying to get rid of those contracts :russ:

-KD was a long shot, especially after Bosh went down, but I'm never going to turn down being in the audience for a FA that says I want to talk to you. That's my job.

-Luol Deng wanted to stay here but he understood the team's dilemma, they didn't have his bird rights and weren't going to be able to make him a comparable offer.

-There's no doubt we can compete for the playoffs, takes 20-30 games to figure out where you are. Our plan is always to compete

Riley and Wade will probably regret the split for the rest of their careers. Riley's words today pretty much echoed Wade's "If I had another another month" comment.

I don't believe you Pat. You can paddle to the Mediterranean all you want but all you had to do was pick up a phone. If you really wanted flexibility, you didn't have to bring in a PG that didn't compliment Wade and sign him long-term. You could have taken care of Wade earlier. Just admit you wanted the flexibility. It's a business. We get it.

Also, I doubt they will let Bosh play. Its about to get ugly. He is probably going to get traded if anything.

Then we are screwed because I doubt they will let him play. :ld:

Pat sounded like their gonna try this medical provision..this season gonna get ugly...NBAPA, I think bosh will be required to retire...by an indepdent doctor appointed by the league and NBAPA...but if he EVER comes back and plays more than ten games...he counts against our salary...
Dark times ahead..

He's screwed

No one wants to be the team that allowed a player to die on the court. Poor Bosh. :sadcam:

Both sides think they're right. Sucks because neither stance is unreasonable
