It's a classic in music in general.
It's the biggest hit Wu ever had i think.

rumor has it, this was a scrapped beat from Forever
The thought of so much piff just sitting on a hard drive somewhereYou can kill the rumor. That's a fact it's from Forever sessions.

RZA said in XXL the Iron Flag beat was just sitting on some old reel of beats for Cappa that never got used. There are volumes of that shyt collecting dust. It's a travesty.

Gravel Pit was the second single. Jump Off was the first. (Also Meth saying 2000 BC was a joke)
I think it works better in context of the three videos being connected by the "time travel elevator" thing but it's still a wacky concept.
Jump Off is the straight forward, rhyme in the camera at a venue type vid with a throwback theme (although the video version lacks the beat switch).
Gravel Pit is the over the top wild high-production number.
and then Careful doesn't even start w/ the elevator concept anymore and goes straight into a shootout at a mix of the modern day club, the 88 throwback & the elevator for whatever reason.
It's a messy weird concept all around and none of them are Wu's best videos, but they kind of balance each other's oddness out when viewed all together. My guess is the each version was a section of the crews idea on what type of video they wanted (I could easily see RZA pushing GP's concept) and doing all three was kind of a compromise across the board.
To be a completest, I Can't Go To Sleep kind of brought everything back to Earth with a kinda regular music video (although Wu in PJs and nightcaps & Ghost crying with mouthfuls of cereal and "regular music video" don't really equate). Love this one.
But, back to it, the silliness of the Gravel Pit video actually took me out of just enjoying the song itself for a while, but it still knocks, especially w/ Ghost's flow.
The W itself was always a step-back for the Wu lyrically but an amazingly produced album with it's dark tone and RZA pushing all the drums to the forefront of the beats instead of laying underneath the music. Such a unique & creative sounding album.
There was a video on wu-tang.com of them in the studio with a Meth verse over a beat with the same vas gutter as Careful or Let My nikkasOne thing related to this album I always wanted to find was a behind the scenes video of the recording of The W that played on Heavy.com back when which played many of the beats of songs that didn't make it in the background as Gee Bee interviewed the Clan. It's one of those rare things that hasn't popped back up on the internet.
RZA had me thinking he took some African track for that joint...especially with the drums
He just slowed this down
I'd kill to peep inside of RZA's vault breh

Wow. I actually remember when you reviewed those same 3 videos and tracks when they first came out back on SOHH and how many threads were being made about the album and your reviews when it dropped. Doesn't even seem like 15 yrs, but damn time flies.
