I think it was, because it was said back then. But that manager really went behind the family and did they Roc deal, plus Roc was double, so understandable. If you telling someone 1/2 a mil and we'll take care of you later, but Team B got 1Mil for you, most are gonna take the mil. But I know that Poppa Wu hates that white bul. Ghost does to.

I don't think anyone's made more off that W than Divine & Power. They're both well off

That white guy looks at RZA and was like: “And you arrrrrrre???” :dwillhuh:

RZA like : :gucci:

I was done :mjlol:

How did that guy even link with ODB? :mindblown:

I haven’t watched ep. 4 yet, but the ODB portion has been the most compelling hands down.

this..you can tell throughout that this took a toll on everybody...some hid it well...some couldnt like u-god and ghost....odb dying officially ended the Wu's run as a group

Man, woman, and child
Watched the first episode over the weekend. Almost binged it but decided I needed to marinate on each one
:wow:

Doc just reminded me why I fell in love with the Wu in the first place as a 12 year old kid from Baltimore. Those nikkas reminded me of the rough ass older dudes around my way who we looked up to but were intimidated by.

It’s funny how everybody had the same reaction I had first time we heard Protect Ya Neck. That issue of the Source in late 93 where we were introduced to all the members of the Wu made its way into every hand in my hood. I had it for like two weeks and to this day don’t even know who owned it. The crazy thing about the Wu is that they sounded like nothing else we had heard before but at the same time it sounded old. Like this is was how hip hop was supposed to sound like. It was crazy af. I’m so blessed to have witnessed all that in real time

I hated that era of ODB... you can see his whole aura was different coming out of Jail. He lost a lot of his confidence. Just that scene alone with that producer playing him that corny beat with the hand claps made me :snoop:

He had all these people around him that were just not a good fit. I purposely avoided listening to that Rocafella album even when it leaked. I don't think it had any songs worth hearing.

This doc was a great watch even with the tensions and sad parts. Another poster mentioned Cappaddona making the dinner scene awkward , you coulda heard a pin drop in that room during that scene.

I doubt ODB touched a million off that deal. His family was hurting for cash when he passed and the album never officially released.

Power cacked off Wu-Wear. But he ain't make more than RZA and Divine.

That beat was just the Lumidee beat for Uh Oh. The song was popping at the time, so they remixed it when he got out.

I'm talking bout cacking off the wu brand in general music and everything else. RZA and Divine made the most...

Divine might look like a snake but he was doing square business he ain't cheat them. Taking a commission is standard. Especially if he was as the film stated one of the earliest investors/backers. Them dudes have to understand how business works.

Rae of all people acting like the business wasn't right but he pulled the same shyt with his label he had out in Toronto. He fully jerked some people out here, ate off government grants and dipped. I'm not hating just saying dudes need to be honest. He can't hate Divine when he was doing the exact same shyt with his label deals and talent if not worse.
I think Wu Wear was his idea. I don't see him making less than them.

That ODB situation ... :to:

Just wondering if what the RZA said (half a mil and work on an album waiting for him upon release) was communicated to ODB and his fam... :patrice:

I still trippin off how in the hell ODBs manager didnt know who Rza was....that whole Roc situation never sat right with me.

Ah ok ... ODBs moms made it seem like NOTHING was planned for him on RZAs side post release ...

500k and stay “loyal” :hula: 1M and be viewed as treasonous

:jbhmm:

And you always gotta have a Divine type in your crew. Just gotta be on point business wise with those types ... Reminds me a little of Blacc Sam, although Sam seem to be a little more scrupulous .

Also glad they talked about the Kase situation .

Notice the evil shift in Ghost voice when he was speaking on the situation with Divine and was told to put ya love in ya back pocket this business and Ghost was like "what's in the books" with that evil tone

The thought of Ghost losing it when Dirt passed is heartbreaking...I always say their decline started when Dirt was on the run (although to me The W was a solid 4-4.5 release but from Iron Flag on you can tell the unity was not strong) but the group kinda died when Dirt passed....he truly was the spirit of the group and it shows

That shyt was cringe  ... I was expecting Ashton Kutcher to run out with the cameras. :snoop:
That was a time where ODB was really vulnerable, and despite Divine and RZAs practices, probably woulda been better off taking the 500k and sticking with family, and then fighting to get off the label afterward.

There was a shift. I wouldn't characterize it as evil, but it was a shift to signal to us like, "Now I know what time it is :birdman:"
