Looks like they got the footage from various sources. Home videos, video music box, news channels, MTV, Bet, Vh1, public access, and that doc that Gza never put out. They also get plenty of footage from this German doc and repurposed it.

Wow, thanks for the answer. That makes a lot of sense and its dope they was able to have a lot of these moments on tape.

Do you know why Gza's documentary was never put out? Did Rza block it?

I don't know why his doc never came out. Good question for him along with the hold up with 'Dark Matter'.

the internet
I noticed they just side stepped the song "Method Man"...They gave a lot of attention to "Protect Ya Neck" and "Cream" but "Method Man" was what made my city bow down. Thats when Meth was a scary nikka, he wasn't all jokey jokey yet...He was that new scary looking nikka which continued from Sticky Fingaz being the most recent scary nikka. This song was the one that had everyone talking. On the song "Pronto" by Cru..I understood exactly what he meant when he said "And my favorite joint is Method Man by Wu Tang"..I understood completely. I'd put money on it "White Owls" stock went up after this song...All of a sudden....White Owls became the wrap of choice and Phillys was old news. (Is it a coincidence when Meth started promoting Dutch Masters a year later everyone in my city was on the Dutch Master tip now? ....It was as if whatever Meth said was the wrap of choice the whole hood just went with it. Fronta Leaf and Garcia Vegas was more word of mouth compared to what Meth said was the in thing)

And everyone was repeating those suspect sounding torture methods in that skit before the album version of Method Man came on.

This video was that 1993 New York gritty shyt that had everyones attention. This was the song that made u remember everyones name due to the intro......Its like they sidestepped that whole moment.

I dont remember anybody thinking Meth was scary.

He was looked at as a pretty boy...thats probably why he looked the way he did in the Bring The Pain video....because he didnt like people thinking he was trying to be fly.

Everywhere...You never there.
Ep. 3 observations:

Rae’s jumper ugly as fukk :mjlol:

But that shyt water tho :leon:

The Wu enjoyed their old soul music

Their relationship with white people and white fans is so nuanced considering the racism they experienced and the teachings they subscribed to.

That ODB situation ... :to:

Just wondering if what the RZA said (half a mil and work on an album waiting for him upon release) was communicated to ODB and his fam... :patrice:

That pretty boy shyt didn't come about until later on. They hadn't blown up big like that yet at the time of the Method Man video. They were still just gathering momentum. Mainly around the time of the All I Need video that he blew up into that heart throb.

And it is crazy to me how in every doc that single is downplayed or ignored as being in the midwest at the time that was the song that got a lot of people checking for the Wu like that.

I believe it was. RZA been talking about that deal he had for years. Originally it was 750k, but Dash came with a Mil. RZA said he wasn't gonna give dirty that kinda money becuase he messedup a lotta cash. The plan was to get dirty in the gym and get his health right.

On a side note, DIVINE is obviously well off.

Ah ok ... ODBs moms made it seem like NOTHING was planned for him on RZAs side post release ...

500k and stay “loyal” :hula: 1M and be viewed as treasonous

:jbhmm:

I haven’t watched ep. 4 yet, but the ODB portion has been the most compelling hands down.

And you always gotta have a Divine type in your crew. Just gotta be on point business wise with those types ... Reminds me a little of Blacc Sam, although Sam seem to be a little more scrupulous .

Also glad they talked about the Kase situation .

I think it was, because it was said back then. But that manager really went behind the family and did they Roc deal, plus Roc was double, so understandable. If you telling someone 1/2 a mil and we'll take care of you later, but Team B got 1Mil for you, most are gonna take the mil. But I know that Poppa Wu hates that white bul. Ghost does to.

I don't think anyone's made more off that W than Divine & Power. They're both well off
