He didn’t sign paper work though. Remember in season 2 they had them all sign papers (Gza refused) that’s probably what Divine meant. There were a whole bunch of Wu affiliated artists hanging around that time including Killah Priest.
On paper, Wu-Tang Clan was 8 members on contracts for Enter the 36 Chambers. MK was down with the crew already though and they eventually made him the official 9th member later on. If you remember, those pictures that Killa punched Cheo Coker over (although MK has no idea what you're talking about
) only illustrated 8 guys. Maybe being that down for the team helped solidify him being an official member.

I know low key it had to feel crazy for Cappaddona to have an album drop before him.
Cap kinda seem like he was the last member to join but he got more shine
