I loved this episode. Who really wants a beat for beat generic making of type sequence that fills the episode? I love the allegorical episodes that break down the mindset behind the albums. There were so many Easter eggs. And if you're paying attention, the album was the score to the episodes - tracks giving the mood and plot points of the scenes.

Hell, it's the Wu. The sprinkled science, religion, pop culture, comic books, 60s & 70s music, cartoons and Kung Fu flicks in building their mythology. Why would the show be run-of-the-mill?

Yep. RZA and Wu have never done anything conventionally so doing these kinds of the wall episodes is right up their alley.

The story could have been done better though. What about a five families(borough) struggle for NYC supremacy since you already introduced Nas, Big, L and Fat Joe? :heh:

But then again, that’s not a one episode story.

I thought the Mad Rapper skit was a shot at Ghostface specifically from the first time I heard that shyt :russ:

It was also about Jeru and the Roots. Big was such a gentleman with the way he addressed blatant disrespect. He took so many arrows, but never really took it that personal. He just addressed that shyt on wax nonchalantly….“This goes out to you, and you and you”.

Right, we already got a peek at the recording process in the first and second seasons, ain't too many ways to make that interesting without treading old ground, so why not get conceptual with it?

Mainly because the actors.
