Sometimes RZA over thinks shyt. All he/they need is some records (45, 12's), a dark setting and make those bangers. The fans want those samples, classic RZA sampling 3 different songs for one beat
actually because RZA is a mad scientist with the beats and his direction is the reason WU sounds so original. You have never heard anything like them before they dropped nor anything like that again. they cant be replicated. Thats RZA's stamp. there's a reason RZA can bring 9 full grown men together in their 20's. then do it again when dudes are late 30's, 40's with families, and a ton of other obligations. they trust RZA like no other. They trust rza with their baby(THE MUSIC). That says something. us old head fans will always want the old 36 chambers wu. BUt the reality is, for them to feel like they're not just making las vegas Old head music. They have to try different things. Hopefully it works. Hopefully they usher in a new era of production and risk taking. so this current hiphop cant get off of playing it safe with the same two to 3 sounds. drake sound, trap music, strip club/club anthems.

i mean we've been doing those same 3 sounds for a while now. aint it about time we switch this thing up?

I hear you. I'm really starting to be concerned about RZA now. I actually enjoyed 8 Diagrams ALOT. I loved most of the beats he had on there. But the sh!t I've heard so far has been "meh". How the hell can you listen to Ron O'Neal and say it has some "fly" vibe to it? I know alot of people like it, but that's not the Clan I like. Fvck you calling Rick Rubin for? I'm hoping for the best but he has me worried. Ghost saying this is up there with Forever helps a lil tho.
rick rubin is a white dude so that will always make us feel a lil ya know. but the truth is just based on ability. rick has that classic hiphop sound written all over his soul. he didnt steal it. he is one of the people who brought it to hiphop. i mean the fact he requested ODB stuff to throw on there and rza didnt even think of this(if so he didnt say he did). that tells you at least rick is means well. and they want that altertnative rock angle. lets be clear 50% of wu fans are black. the rest are white(with some asians and others sprinkled in there). you throw your fans a bone(white folks-alt. rock). while also switching it up (for black folks).

the thing that's givin me hope is ghost saying it might be just as good as forever to him. ghosts albums are classic, he has a good ear (tho he been slipping lately...)

I just domnt want this album soudnin like those chamber music/legendary weapons joints
this has to have rzas sound in it

people hate 8D but 8D had some of the best WU sounding stuff in a minute when it dropped

campfire, gun will go and stick me for my riches are some of my fav wu tracks.

the original wolves still needs a release

I hear you, bro. You make a lot of sense. I just hope the finished product is dope. Keep Watch and Ron O' Neal are disappointing.

and i wouldn't be surprised if he thought that about Twelve Reasons to Die either.
the album wasn't wack to me and i might need to listen to it again but i felt lifeless/empty to me in patches.
I listened to it once. It wasn't wack but I never had the desire to listen to again. Lifeless is the perfect word

:salute:

But at that the same time they laid a blueprint that cannot be duplicated by others, if those cats aren't hungry enough to revisit that kind of lab then they should all retire. I wouldn't be mad at all.

Even if they released something like forever its just been too long. Plus that same sound and energy coming from 40 year olds just doesn't read the same. It's sad that they never grew much as a group. Their first two albums and first run solo albums (+SC) are pretty much the height of hip hop, lyricism, mystery, beats, streets, aggression but all that coming from 40+ year olds trying to recapture a spark just doesn't sound right. You got break through like the Wu, unexpectedly, but they could never really grow, and even if they manage to recapture the energy it won't be the same. They'd have to come with something new thats still wu, but there's only so many times you can be let down by the same group.

nice cover

some hilarious observations in this thread :dead:

album is a little over a month from being released, and I'm very optimistic they rise to the occasion
