There is no Wu-Tang without RZA. Literally and figuratively I don't understand why people think you could actually have a Wu-Tang album without RZA, for better or for worse the Wu as a group are spearheaded by The Abbot....

I'm not sure about that tbh. RZA is certainly more used to and willing to deal with the headache that is the Wu (the jealousy, brotherly bickering, etc) but I could see other people putting out a good album with the members minus RZA. I'd take an Alchemist/Wu album for instance, he could certainly pull it off. You'd get dope production, dope art, and a cool video or two - just like every product he's done in the last 3-5 years.

I could also see Apollo Brown making a dope Wu album.

Ultimately the issue would come down to costs. Getting everyone's verses and accounting for delays would be expensive. But if someone was willing to take that risk I think the Wu could do something decent. Give me some dope art, a badass vinyl, throw in some posters and something weird/cool like a short Wu anime or documentary. Package it well like RTJ2 or Czarface and fans would buy the shyt out of it. It won't go gold but that vinyl would constantly sell out.

I appreciate you being unbiased as I know your a huge Wu fan but I think what we need to do is take a step back, breathe, and realize that we are judging SNIPPETS, not full songs. You seemed ready to travel down to Staten Island and smack RZA with a Wok while his Guitar Gently Weeped for that Preachers Daughter hook lol...

I remember when the snippets for Good Kid m.A.A.d City leaked and thinking to myself that Backseat Freestyle was going to be the worst thing Kendrick ever did, now I love that track and couldn't imagine the album without it, we shouldn't judge before we get the full product

:dead:

Just had another run through of the snippets :feedme: Of course this all depends on where the snippets are in the track but the only negative for me is the Preacher's Daughter hook. I can handle one shyt hook on a 15 track album though. We'll wait and see :myman:

Yeah, The Preacher's Daughter hook is the only part of the snippets that feels really off. It sounds like they tried to immaculate those legendary wacked out ODB hooks and just completely got it wrong.

It's really bad too me. What really makes it bad is that it potentially ruins a great concept and verses. That Ghost verse on it is great.

Meth is supposed to have a really nice verse on Daughter also, so maybe that's just one part then the song moves on. maybe Tekitha comes in and saves the day, im not gonna count that one out just yet

I really hope so. It kills me when a track has a pretty good concept but is bogged down by one of it's components, like bad verses, a bad beat or a bad hook. Nas, imo, is the greatest MC ever but I totally hate "Who Killed It" because of the cheesy voice he uses on the track. Ruined it for me.

yea sometimes experimentation in hiphop goes wrong, but they have had a couple off-kilter joints on each joint since Forever. that's just RZA playing around, so I cant get mad at that. some great things have come of that, and certainly a share of duds too

ill be interested to hear the final version of Reunion, I love that beat just need a full version with more bars

I love Reunion too. Loved it ever since I heard it and never understood the hate it initially got. An extended version with some more verses would be great and an excellent ending to the album.

These snippets dividing opinion.

Seeing @Billy Ocean go in so hard on RZA / snippets, that shyt got me slightly worried :mjcry:

I ain't listening to no snippets though, they can be misleading as hell. Not long left, i'm holding on to Ruckas and Neclace ..... Wu gonna deliver

Lol. I've been listening and I'm kinda warming up to some of the hooks heard on the snippets, but I can't fvck with RZA's Preacher's Daughter singing at all. And you dudes know I'm as big a Wu/RZA fan as anyone, but that sh!t is straight asscheeks. And you're right Calli, snippets can be misleading as hell. I hated the snippets to Only Built For Cuban Linx 2, but ended up loving the album.

The beats sound really good on these snippets though, and the verses sound good too, so that's a great thing. I'm glad 4th made the album because his two tracks may be the standouts.
