Day one Wu Tang fan but RZA lost it man.His sonics are evolved,as they should but the reason Wu got my attention in the first place was the dissonance and Lo Fi feel of the music.I'll still cop but expect to lose interest quick beacause his new sound just got too much of everything and nothing going on at once

I don't really care about reviews for this album, I'll let this board and people I've known 25-30 years review it. I'll listen to them, and obviously form my own opinion once I hear it.

Most of these bloggers aren't even old enough to remember "Wu in their prime" so they can :camby: outta here.

I skimmed the snippets, which sounds redundant, so obviously I don't have enough info to say if I liked or disliked something, just wanted to get a feel for the tone of the album and the beats and so far I'm still on board. I'll wait till the 2nd to give my real opinion :whoknows:

Now see....this "A Better Tomorrow" song isn't a typical Wu sound but it's dope as fukk. There's way to expand on their sound without it being horrifically corny like "Preacher's Daughter".

I'm still copping though so :yeshrug:

I think this, Reunion and Never Let Go will all have a similar vibe. close it out with the feel good joints

im trying to hold off until I have it, but I got to hear Felt in its entirety. it intrigues me, trying to hold off on leaks 2 songs ago but ive just waited too long its hard :sadcam:

that's a hiphop thing, sadly. in electronic music and rock you see artists get more of a clean look on new material, where in hiphop if it doesn't match up to album X or era Z its wack

part of the reason a lot of older fans don't move on imo, but that's a different thread
I disagree with that. The "old sound" sorts are apparent in all kinds of music.
There are people who don't really care for Miles Davis' music post "Kind of Blue"
just as there are people who spit acid at Metallica for even attempting to do something
"different". Though sometime it isn't related as simple as "this is wack !" or "this is trash !"
but the sentiment is generally the same.

Spend more time dealing with people outside of Hip Hop and you'll find a lot of things
common in "The Booth" are pretty much common across music forums across the internet.

Them heavy metal cats pioneered the "he sold out!" shyt. My older brothers were into rock and heavy metal in the 80's and God forbid if any of those groups deviated even slightly from their last album.

I'm not sure about that tbh. RZA is certainly more used to and willing to deal with the headache that is the Wu (the jealousy, brotherly bickering, etc) but I could see other people putting out a good album with the members minus RZA. I'd take an Alchemist/Wu album for instance, he could certainly pull it off. You'd get dope production, dope art, and a cool video or two - just like every product he's done in the last 3-5 years.

I could also see Apollo Brown making a dope Wu album.

Ultimately the issue would come down to costs. Getting everyone's verses and accounting for delays would be expensive. But if someone was willing to take that risk I think the Wu could do something decent. Give me some dope art, a badass vinyl, throw in some posters and something weird/cool like a short Wu anime or documentary. Package it well like RTJ2 or Czarface and fans would buy the shyt out of it. It won't go gold but that vinyl would constantly sell out.

:scusthov:

I'd rather have RZA bang out some Bobby Digi leftover beats than a Wu album over generic soul loops.

Even an Alchemist produced Wu album wouldn't sit right with me. The Wu is the Wu. Without RZA no matter what producer comes in ain't gonna be a Wu album (other than the Wu-element cats but can they really hold down an album in 2014?).
