Knowing how the world works today , They could have flown to another country and they could have ended up bribing the officials there . Who knows where that plane is now ? Unless they landed the plane somewhere and they scrapped it and whatever money they got for it they split amongst the crew and pilots. They could also make more than one stop and drop off the passengers and make a get away to another destination which would be where they would scrap the plane and fuel im sure hey can get a few million for everything .
