As stupid as I think OP's original post is (complaining about his homeboys not wanting to help him build a mini pizza house on they day off) my dad was around and has basic handyman skills. He does electrical work and house installations on the side as well as having his own landscaping business that brings in an extra 800-1200 a week and I help him every time I am there (he wants me to take it over but idk if I want to do that shyt all the time).
I also did construction (hated it), know how to carry/shoot/clean guns, throw a punch, and do a bunch of other random shyt so it just depends on how you were brought up.
props, made me go learn something new today.
This week I attempted to construct a wood fire pizza oven for my mother. She likes to bake breads for the whole family and she found a kit that was half price at an auction. I took a day off. Because these types of projects needed 2 people to lay the foundation and the brickwork, I called 20 of my pals, each of them did not know anything about basic carpentry or any handyman skilled that you would expect a father to teach his sons.I even offered them money and delicious woodfire pizza after we finished the project None of them knew anything about basic brickwork or woodwork. At the end of the day, I had to pay this old Italian dude 300 dollars for a day worth of work I' ain't a Tradie but I still see basic handy man skills essential for any man to learn. Especially in this economy. Brehs need to start learning those male skills.
Lol @ nikkas not wanting to build a fukking pizza oven spawning a debate on the state of young males and their manhood. If one of my homies called me up to spend my weekend laying bricks and building a pizza oven they would hear a click on the other end, ain't nobody got time for that.
you don't even need a dad to learn that stuff either, if you volunteer with places that build homes for poor people, like ASP, you can learn important handyman lessons and volunteer at the same time
that's how I learned basic shyt
just basic shyt, how to construct a frame for an addition to a house, reinforcing floors, making windows, wood cutting, using tools, stuff like that
What did you learn?
How long were the volunteer hours?
