Imagine the world champion actually defending the title in matches.

I want to imagine the opponents not being cannon fodder until CM Punk returns, because that's what the shyt looks like. I can't take Mox steamrolling through dudes like Rush and Take.. Ain't no way Red Cross Mox going over on these dudes. I'm seriously starting to understand why WWE doesn't do world title matches until a PPV because the "defending" shyt is a smokescreen to make Mox look like a competitor, but in reality dude is going to win the match anyway. Its wild predicable.

One companies champion hasn’t defended the title in months for some reason the other is doing a weekly fighting champion gimmick for another reason. Either way as long as the crowds are hype and engaged and matches are entertaining that’s all that really matters. To me at least. I mean I know wrestling is all about suspending belief but the title is fake at the end of the day.

I'd agree normally, however because of the timing (Tanahashi is in the G1) and the rash of injuries, I don't blame TK for putting it on someone who can appear regularly on tv.
I'd rather have Tana as AEW champ in the G1, he might not have lost to Henare this year.

This was my exact qualm with Gresham and all the ROH title defenses being handed out.

Rush showed out, had a damn good match, but he was supposed to get his shyt in (if you know Rush, you know).

Commentary, at the very least, did a tremendous job selling his ROH reign as worthy of him being given a random title shot.

:francis:I dig it, but it just makes it hard to watch sometimes when you have a title defense, and we all know the outcome and the booking in advance. Yes it beats a champion being at home or part timing, but I refuse to believe that Simon BelMOX out here beating a Ace of NJPW, the Ace of DDT, Rush and countless others and then all of the sudden loses to Punk (which seems like the case near All Out).

I just wish shyt was wild unpredictable. Like remember when NJPW went apeshyt and gave the belt to EVIL of all people because "Gedo is a fukking lunatic". The entire TSC (well puro gang) lost their shyt in a weird way. Like no one was expecting that booking to happen. Maybe Mox need to lose to Danhausen or some shyt so I can get my bubble burst like good ole times.

TV ratings mean more than crowd reactions, much much more actually. Roman defending his title sparingly makes the world title feel like a big deal when it's defended. Moxley wrestling randoms with 0 build makes the title seem secondary.
