As someone who has no dog in the fight id rather Seattle have a team at least they were relevant for awhile have history a great fanbase etc
The Kings are just about the most irrelevant franchise in the nba throghout its history aside from a few year run in the early 2000's
Dawg, you're been PRO-SEATTLE and ANTI SACTO ever since the news first broke about the Hansen/Ballmer sale in January. Fanbase?
Sac has that advantage. 19 straight sellout seasons in 28 years in Sacramento. As for that run in the 2000s, there was a TWO YEAR waiting list for season tickets.
Seattle fans will come if their product is making a playoff run (see the Sonics before they left and the Mariners right now compared to the Seahawks currently).
I know Seattle got screwed in 2008 but they had their chances to prevent the team from moving. Everyone knew where Clay Bennett was from and how OKC supported the Hornets after Katrina. Schultz didn't know shyt about running a sports franchise being the Starbucks CEO and the mayor at the time was the REAL one to blame for the Sonics leaving five years ago, NOT Bennett or even Stern.
I would like to see the Sonics come back, and I know Seattle is a great city. However, Sacramento made ALL the shots needed to keep the Kings .
Stern may have some remorse of what went down five years ago but the last thing he's doing is giving Sacramento a favor here. If he did, there would probably be a 2002 championship banner in the Sleep Train Arena rafters
