I was thinking about this the other day. A women’s match will definitely main event Mania sooner than later. They’re pushing it too hard to not eventually do this.

When Ronda was still undefeated she was actually pushing ppv numbers and main evented UFC

So Vince is trying to make it happen for WWE, problem is Ronda isn't the same because everyone has seen her get beaten to a pulp ...this would have worked like a charm if Ronda quit before losing and joined WWE

People were walking out before and during the main event in 2016. Women main eventing pay per views isn’t even a bad idea, but to so heavy handedly force feed it to the crowd solely to pander and try to get good publicity is just shameful. They always have to market it so heavily as if nobody has ever floated this concept before. Women have closed shows before in wrestling and in the octagon. If they’re over enough to warrant it, go for it and don’t make the fact that they’re closing the show your selling point. It ruins the immersion to make that a big deal. Let the story being told be the contest between the people competing. It doesn’t need to be anything else. If a feud has the crowd hot even if it isn’t about the heavyweight title, that’s all that matters. When trish and lita closed out a taping of raw for the women’s title, it wasn’t marketed as historic since a women’s match hadn’t closed the show before. The feud between the two was all that was needed, same as when Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy closed out a taping of smackdown over the cruiserweight title. An organic build always works best.
Rey Mysterio was a consistent ratings getter so he could of closed out anything on any show. Kharma got highly rated segments too.

Brock was getting beat when he came back and Tyson had been losing too. I think we just need to accept that wrestling isn't that kinda draw anymore where one person can come in and change everything or Ronda's draw doesn't translate to wrestling.

I mean we'll see what she does if they put her on the house show circuit and apparently walk up attendance was good last week.

The problem is the entire atmosphere around the product. Everything feels so sterile, clean, controlled, and unimaginative right now. It doesn’t feel like the most over guys will get a fair shake or thatthe audience is listened to at all. It feels like the McMahon family only does things to please sponsors or because it’s what Vince or Stephanie want. It kills the buzz around he whole promotion every bit as much as them not having any competition does. As long as they book this way, we won’t see another boom period. Hard to generate real excitement around a promotion that ejects fans and confiscates signs for booing someone just because they want a guy as the top star. It speaks to a refusal to try new things or listen to the audience. This is what sparked the last boom period of 1996-2001. The most over guys generally got the top spots because they had a legit competitor to push them. This makes everything around the product seem livelier as a result since everyone is going all out.

Brock got sick and is different because he was a wrestler turned legit fighter who won a UFC title coming back home.

Tyson is also known for being erratic and crazy and also had an excuse for his losses as he was in jail for most of his prime and his prime of knocking people out was still fresh in people's minds...

I'd be fine with Asuka vs. Charlotte main eventing if Shinsuke vs AJ was not on the card

Also am I the only one who's not feeling this Ronda Rousey thing. She can't act for shyt and should not be getting this kinda treatment when she was embarrassingly whooped out of UFC and couldn't back up her mouth
Stop it. She got her ass whooped. That’s part of fighting. That’s like saying Tyson shouldn’t have been at Mania, after getting his ass whooped by Holyfield and Douglas.

:mjlol:
She got her ass whooped in the first minute of the 2nd round, then proceeded to sound emotionally unstable on daytime TV after eating one L even though she was talking big shyt before all that, then comes back and gets whooped in 1 minute and subsequently retires from the sport to go do WWE and take actual non-throwaway/celebrity match spots and shine away from women who've been working for years. It's one thing to lose, it's another to halfass your craft while you're busy doing Hollywood and talking shyt, then get destroyed again just to retire and get handed a WWE spot (not saying it isn't smart business on WWE's side but still).

Big difference there with Mike. If she wasn't a white woman she wouldn't be getting anywhere near the pass/acceptance she's getting right now
