The H
Draymond is such an overrated playmaker. He makes the smart pass, but that's about it. It's not hard to rack up assists playing with the greatest shooting team of all time, not to mention the whole team gets open using screens and great movement.

why can't he with help. Draymond is extremely hard to move on the block, he forces a lot of turnovers against post players trying to establish position and the Warriors are great at swarming/making it difficult for teams to make routine post entry passes.

never said that he'd stop Cap, but that he can guard him and in general that the matchup wouldn't be as lopsided as you make it appear. i also highlighted how the Warriors would exploit him on the other end of the floor

There are a few bigs that could probably put up similar apg in the same situation (Millsap, Griffin are two that comes to mind), but Green is both a smart and skilled passer not one or the other. Combined with his ability to bring the ball up the floor makes him one of the best playmaking big men of this era. Often when Curry/Klay cut to the basket there will be a very small window to make a play, and he manages to thread that needle consistently. Very strong passer out of the post.

Whats your problem with that post

I mean they had their best SRS (point differential + strength of schedule) and offensive success that year too. There's a lot more than just wins that suggests it was their best year, plus its Magic's best season as he took on a more assertive offensive role and lowered his usually terrible turnover rate to a more respectable level.

Yeah Kareem could score on anybody, but there are team concepts that you can use to make his job harder or force the ball out of his hands. Green would do his job as the primary defender by being a brick wall not ceeding post position, using his quick hands to create turnovers, helping to make routine post entry passes difficult while another Warrior would be in the vicinity prepared to give help.

Kareem is Top 5 (at least) all time. He has a legitimate case for greatest player ever. He might not be the consensus pick. But if someone chose him I couldn't knock it.

The disrespect ppl show that man's legacy makes no fukking sense.

Draymond Green on his best day couldn't do shyt with Kareem. There's no logical counterpoint you can make. Because your initial point is completely fukking illogical.

Couple of things you should consider:

1) This discussion arose when Magic said his Lakers would destroy the Warriors in a seven game series. The best Lakers team was in 1987 where they won 65 games, best offense of the showtime era, highest point differential. That Kareem was 39 years old and he wasn't even playing like a top 25 guy of all time, clearly past the peak of his career.

2) The Warriors would be doubling him on every possession trying to force the ball out of his hands. He'd get doubled before the ball even GOT to him which is something you couldn't even do back then because the illegal defense rules. Warriors are one of the best I've ever seen at using this strategy because of how well they recover and rotate. Green as is does a great job at forcing steals by using his quick hands and is a brick wall in the post who is very hard to dislodge. He'd be doing his job as a m2m defender, and combined with the help can guard Kareem.

3) The other side of this discussion which no one has really addressed is how Kareem would get exploited in transition and defending the P&R against Curry/Green should they opt to go small. That quote the OP has is only a snippet of my entire position.

There's nothing illogical about my position whatsoever. Seriously, people are just for whatever reason unwilling to accept that Green + a great team defense could guard Kareem.

That's not what actually happened though. He scored 1 field goal on Green in the P&R, everything else on Bogut/Andy V. Made a couple mid range jumpshots in that game and there's not much you can really do if he's hitting those, and this is irrelevant to Kareem since the Warriors would be respecting him a lot differently than they did Whiteside.

I refered to that and 1 clip. Now, did you click the link I posted that provides all of Whitesides FG's. How many were on Green. And how often did they double him, like they would Kareem every possession

Have you thought about why he is not guarding him?
