Would you still game as much as you do if AAA gaming died?

Would you still game much as you do without AAA game releases?

  • Of course, i love games, i actually enjoy indies more than AAA

  • Eh, I’d still game but not nearly as much

  • Naw, I’d probably find another hobby

Somewhere tropic...
I think people often make the mistake of thinking AAA means the yearly COD game or Ass Creed game.

AAA games vary with huge blockbusters like Uncharted, God of War or COD to GTA, Forza, Gran Turismo, Halo, Fortnite to other games people tend not to think too much about.

Not having anymore AAA games would mean games such as:

Fortnite wouldn't exist
Apex Legends
Genshin Impact is a F2P AAA Gacha game
Diablo IV
Mortal Kombat 1
Tears of the Kingdom
Pokemon Games
Super Mario 3D platformers/Side Scrollers
Animal Crossing
Smash Bros!
Mario Kart
Splatoon
Elden Ring

ALL of these games would literally not exist anymore. AAA isn't just the standard "Sony movie game" where you're walking through a forest talking for 10 minutes before you fight some epic boss.

Indie Games etc. are cool but I'm not trying to just be stuck with Stray and Hi-Fi Rush for the rest of time.
These I can survive off Shovel Knight til the end of days dudes are so full of shyt :mjlol:

AAA games just don’t stimulate me :troll:
"Yup, I don't really rock with AAA games they bore me for the last 10 years"

*in another thread*

*gets asked GOTG*

*names mostly AAA games*
The only GOTY this far is FF7 RE.

And it's a timed exclusive

But tlous and GOT have been great

However I've also played, gears tactics, grounded, halo infinite is coming, wastelands 3 drops at the end of this month

Cyberpunk is goty material even with the bugs...:wow:

On anything but a playstation console:mjlol:

But GOW is my goty :mjtf:

What does any of that have to do with what game is the best?

Say from this point on we only get indie/AA budget games, so stuff like Hades, Vampire Survivor, Pentiment, Kena, Stray, Enter The Gungeon, with maybe the biggest budget stuff being stuff like Life is Strange, Sifu, It Takes Two, etc?

I think max dev budget would be something like 25-30m a game.
I think this a dumb ass thread, but I came up on the NES so everything is :blessed: status

Just give me ring king online, maybe an 8 player Gradius once wider screens are the norm

Thankfully the meaning is merely informal and Gizmo has no real reign over what it means
Gizmo established the criteria for the thread. without that, where do you draw the line between AA and AAA games?

I'd draw the line with high budget, team size, whether it's a first party title or not, graphics etc.

Yeah, its hard to draw the line cause technically Pokemon despite it looking like garbage is considered AAA. Pokemon has a large development team and gigantic marketing budgets

I also believe something like Control cost around 30m to develop, and im not sure if people consider it AAA or AA.
