I think an important consideration would be if they are private or public loans. With income based repayment, it actually wouldn't be that bad (and would be forgiven after 15 years I believe). Also, with federal loans, teachers still get forgiveness of certain loans after 5 years (Perkins and Stafford I believe).
You should do your research before making a decision if you really like someone.
