my moms was a school teacher and never had to pay back 1 penny of loans. chicago public schools paid that shyt. I swear last generation had it so easy in comparision to now.

I could see if she went $100,000 into debt and ended up with a nice paying job, then it wouldn't take so long to pay that debt off. But to have a low paying job, something is wrong some where. And if you guys get married, both of you will be paying that debt. That's a house in some areas....... :whoa:

I think an important consideration would be if they are private or public loans. With income based repayment, it actually wouldn't be that bad (and would be forgiven after 15 years I believe). Also, with federal loans, teachers still get forgiveness of certain loans after 5 years (Perkins and Stafford I believe).

You should do your research before making a decision if you really like someone. :yeshrug:
