Would you call JR Smith an underachiever?

This is the type of nikka that you hate to love. Like he does alot of dumb shyt but has a certain charismatic persona to him that you just cant help but laugh at :pachaha:.

In retrospect when you think about it this is a very dumb thing to even attempt to do. With the clock churning down how many nikkas first thought in their head is to try and dunk on a nikka :laff:. Like, you wanna get the ball out your hands as soon as possibly so the clock dont run out on you. But aye he made it work :myman:

He's athletic as hell, great range, and can get to the rim when he tries. He had all the tools. If he had a better work ethic and shot selection, Smith could have been an all star caliber player.

I actually don't see the potential in J.R. that others see. He's a good (albeit very streaky) long distance shooter and has crazy hops and can finish well around the rim, but I don't think there's any other exceptional skills or abilities that he has.

Finishing at the rim and the ability to shoot 3's are key attributes in the NBA. If he worked on his dribble driving and shooting in the paint then he would def be an all star caliber player. He needs a no nonsense coach and the right system to humble himself and cut-down on the dumb ass shots that he tosses up at times.

They're key attributes but they're not exactly rare.

Name 5 players that aren't all stars that can do both on the level of JR Smith

Gerald Green
Martell Webster
Jason Richardson
Marcus Thornton
Brandon Rush
Courtney Lee
Richard Jefferson
Chase Budinger
Dorrell Wright
Mickeal Pietrus
Paul George

All of these guys have (or in a case or two, had) the ability to hit threes and finish at the rim at level or around the level J.R. does, but none of these guys are All Stars or are likely to ever be All Stars, just like J.R. I don't think J.R. is much if any more talented than any of these guys, even though I think he uses his talent better than most of the younger dudes on the list.

Paul George has a bigger chance to be an all-star than J.R.
