Would Target Score Rules in the NBA Make the League more Entertaining?

This just came to me, so follow me.

There seems to be a distain for the NBA, topic and thread after thread about viewership declining. Interest is not there, the level of competition isn't matching what people (casuals for the most part) want.

Let's say the NBA took a page out of MLB's rulebook and made big changes to how the game is played. MLB recently brought in the pitch clock, new Extra Inning rules and are now exploring being able to pinch hit anyone on your roster at any time for the sake of spicing things up.

Would the NBA benefit from thinking outside the box and adding some changes that could drastically change how the game is even approached?

Make point differential matter all season along with scoring system for winning games etc.

People talking shyt about the NBA Cup, but from a competitive standpoint, it's worked and players have bought in. Now expand on it further IMO

The issue could be solved by restricting all this unnecessary perimeter play / 3 pointers.
Make it illegal offense to run 1-4 flat and shooting 3's without the ball going inside first. you only allowed to do it with 3 minutes left in each quarter.

Or the problem will solve itself if we get a few generational back to the basket/post players that could also defend that would force other teams to have bigger more front court oriented teams. I blame Pringles(all them 3's and no lay ups) Pop with the load management, and Kerr for doing Dan Tony's system on steroids and all the rest of these soft ass GM's emulating each other.

Only way I can see something like this happening is if there is a system that weighs and rewards stats that reflect higher FG%

football is the only sport where fans don't mind if the games took longer.

I hate the Elam ending as a thing for NBA games. That's just a rule for people who think a game winner in every game will hit the same as organic ones.

Also, that will become the gayest thing for ones when games end on free throws.

Targeted score is more bat/racquet and ball games. + they also have unlimited clock to complete the match.

Volleyball is an exception. Nearly all the other ball sports (Football both Rugby Basketball Water Polo etc) have a clock.

Adopt a points system like hockey. Bet nikkas would really start hooping now & stop sitting out. Make every game matter..

I also think a 5 second dribble rule like the old college one, will stop all this iso and force players to move the ball.
