Hmmm . . . War on Drugs started in the 70s, Prison/Military Industrial Complex started in the 60s, while Capitalism's origins are from the 13th century. I think the idea it relies on these other systems is a misnomer. What happened before 30 years ago?

Don't underestimate the War on Drugs as a form of social control. Beyond the monetary benefits of the war, it also helps to create a large disenfranchised lower class, as well as undermine the development of minority groups(mainly black folk), and an extremely cheap labor force in prison.

It's not to say that it wouldn't be one without the other, but the rise of the Prison/Military/even Media Industrial Complex generate endless amounts in a Capitalist system and also act as forms of control over massive populations. Think of it as each system is intertwined with the next, working together to sustain the shyt on a macro level.

The laws have credited Corporations are people therefor the whole system has to be undone and how many people are going to go for that.

Again if laws were changed to make the situation worse why can't the same happen in the opposite?
I don't know where you are coming from? You like to point out how fukked up the system is and how most people aren't up on it. Like you are trying to enlighten, which is great. But then you come with this super pessimistic angle that things can never change for the better. It's like you are undermining your own efforts.

:snoop: Because those who continue to vote in the 2 party system continue to receive the same minded folks who enjoy giving laws that take away individual freedoms and reward corporations with everything they want.

What is hard to see about it?

Obama is not going to decriminalize weed. He does not want to be remembered as "The black president who decriminalized marijuana". To us, decriminalizing marijuana is logical and isn't really some earth shattering thing. But to most of the population they'd go bonkers and make a HUGE DEAL out of it.

Tis thread is so fukking dumb

Drugs are not a positive thing as much as you may enjoy them. And I'm not anti-weed or anything like that, but to act like legalizing weed would be great for the advancement of society is just plain dumb.

and I'm FOR legalization

He'll NEVER be mentioned in the same sentence as MLK or Tubman... you guys need to really look at what the fukk those 2 people did. Tubman RISKED HER LIFE EVERY DAY to free slaves... and MLK was a martyr for Civil Rights not just in America but in the entire world.

I won't say never because we can't predict the future, but there's literally almost nothing Obama can do to reach their stature. He'll be remembered as much in the United States though. Some people still forget Harriet Tubman. :smh:

You are trying to convince 'those who continue to vote in the 2 party system' otherwise or to consider an alternative right? You act like your efforts will never be rewarded by protesting how ingrained the current status quo is.

Actually, drugs can be extremely positive and life altering (for the better). There are other drugs that are extremely bad.

Freeing millions from jail that shouldn't be there would be a great benefit.

College students who catch a weed charge are denied financial aid.

An entire new industry would be created.

Cops can focus on more harmful things.

There are A LOT of benefits. (or "advancements")

You seem not to get it at all. You voted for Obama expecting change and hope and you can't see the gradual change of individual rights and freedoms being taken away by his administration. It would have been the same for Romney or any other bloods and crips representative. There are only like 5 congressmen that actually don't buy into this crap and they are totally ignored by voters and the media.

Keep that wishful thinking.
