Would John Stockton be a top 3 PG today? Huge debate going on

I said top 5 just due to his accomplishments and I do think some of his skills/assets would translate but two things working against Stockton is he wasn’t lights out as a shooter and his wasn’t big nor athletic,also I never seen him in another system to know if he could really flourish and he played with a legendary PF every year.

Also keep in mind it’s only TWO really small PG’s doing big work today and that’s Paul and Young both 6’0-6’1 the science and facts are not on Stockton side IMO

Yes, he would. Stockton is a generational point guard. Seeing the floor and distributing the ball is their main job. Nine consecutive seasons of double digit assists. That's an insane feat.

He shot 51% from the field because he utilized the layup and mid-range game; the latter of which is frowned upon due to analytics. So I don't know where this thing comes from that he couldn't score. Throwing up a bunch of shots wasn't his duty.

It is but it’s under one system with a HOF coach and HOF tier 1 PF,who’s to say Stockton plays elsewhere the same thing happens? Yes I do think some of his ability translates but it’s hard to judge Stockton
