This is some of the best storytelling I’ve ever seen in any medium. But it makes me think of a few things.
1. @Sweet Meat Chaucer You named the kid and he definitely will remember you from his formative years. I wonder how things will turn out with him.
2. My mom and pops were in the army and I was conceived in Korea. My father was already back home in America when my mom told him.
By the time I was born he had a whole ass serious relationship. My mom came back fully pregnant to talk to him and his girl threatened to kill my mom while I was in the womb.
Long story short, my mom kept it moving and had me as a single parent. My father claimed me and signed the birth certificate but stayed with the other lady and eventually married her. She prevented him from seeing me. He had two other boys with this woman before she wound up murdering him.
So I never met my father. But eventually I met my brothers and formed a relationship with them. We’re still tight to this day. But as I get older I think about the stories that I was told and wonder “wtf kinda fukkery were people getting into in the military?!?” I’m not naive, I know the version of events I was told as a kid were definitely watered down. I definitely know it wasn’t planned for me to be here.
It is what it is. I have a good life and I’m successful. My mom later remarried and had other kids. I definitely wish my pops was alive so I could have a real man discussion with him tho.
