It's even worse than that. According to some of the crew members, Phillips had been advised multiple times to stay clear away from Somalian waters as their had been multiple pirate attacks in the area in the days before, but he ignored the warnings because it would add additional costs to their journey.
Yeah I read about that too. Dude caused the whole situation and now gets all this praise. Ridiculous.

That dude behind Hanks looks like he's about to rape him.
So that's what I see. I mean, they could have just shown an "angry" pirate. But this dude has the "I'm gonna pipe you down" look on his face.

What's funny is this captain Phillips is viewed as a hero of course (CAC) but dude himself said he did nothing of the hero type and was scared like a bytch when the seals saved him. Dude didn't give himself up as a hostage he was already held captive without a choice. cacs gonna CAC it up in this one.
the movie actually depicted all of this.

now this wasnt highlighted in the movie.

the only allusion to that was him seeing a report in an email the night before.

I see.

So he's not portrayed as a "hero"?
he dont body anyone, or anything like that.

I think he is portrayed as a hero for protecting his crew from death or something. He seen as a nice dude for helping one of the Pirates. Other parts of the movie he gets smacked around and he bytched up at the end.

I thought I was the only one feeling this. That whole steeze, the trailers, posters, etc all scream out "Good white men verses crazed wild negros with guns and you know we'll prevail". I bet that was a easy sell to Hollywood brass
