My dude everybody in this thread saying carl lewis was a huge star? Just admit you're wrong :aicmon:

If I admit that he became a huge star, will you admit that he only won one 100m Final race at the Olympics?

he also set a world record in the 1991 world championships. What are you doing here? :mindblown:

Did Michael Johnson have food poisoning in '92? So the story goes. My point is that it was probably good for him. Cuz he stayed hungry, trained his ass off, had something to prove in Atlanta '96 where he won his 1 and only 200m gold medal ("Dominating from 89-00" is an illusion of history, manipulated by marketing and the actions of Johnson himself)

He had food poisonin breh, Mike Marsh would of probably still ran him close as he was in the form of his life especially after running 19.73 while slowin down in the heats. But Marsh was happy as fukk that Johnson didnt make it.

Its too taxin to do 8 races in 4 days with about 2 days rest thrown in between.

Johnson lost about 5 races in his career from 89 till when he retired how is that not dominate.

nothing is new under the sun. All of these guys were huge stars in their day, so yes Im comparing them.

Edwin Moses was the biggest star in track before Carl Lewis. And Louganis made diving popular in the USA.

You don't handle symbols well so I'll talk numbers.

How much endorsement money did Moses and Louganis see in comparison to Bolt & Phelps?

How many times were Moses' and Louganis' name said on TV in comparison to Bolt's & Phelps'?

In the days before ESPN 2 & 3 - the name mentions isn't close. In the days before a million cable TV stations, the endorsement deal $ numbers isn't close. I won't mention the internet.

You can't compare their levels of "stardom".

I won't get into my beef will Michael Johnson ...I'll just repeat my original point that he was only dominant at 1 Olympics.

you're too stupid to understand this :smh:

Moses and Louganis were the big stars in there days but couldnt take on endorsements and stuff because of amateurism rules. Moses was actually doing the paper work to change those amateurism rules that allow Phelps and Bolt to eat today (while Lewis was the star of it).

They were as big as you could be before ESPN got major.

:heh: @ u not respectin a man because it was practically impossible especially @ 33 to do the 200 & 400m double 4 years later after he already done it.

So whats ur beef with Johnson? He fukk your girl? Or a female member of your family and didnt ring them back?

Or did u lose some money on him cause he pulled up in the 150m race with Bailey

I thought his running style was an insult to all black men with swag. Brother ran like Forrest Gump.

I know you probably weren't even born back then but at least do some research before posting.
He also got the gold in 1988 after this...

Amazing how Johnson got caught AGAIN after serving his 5-year ban :snoop:
