You can lose weight while pregnant. A baby, the fluid and placenta is only about 10-11lbs, many people get sick and lose more than that or end up with GD and due to a diabetic diet, they lose weight.

If you already have an irregular period why would it make you think something is wrong? Also, there is sometimes bleeding during pregnancy, for someone who doesn’t know they pregnant, it could be misinterpreted as a short period
