I did watch it again. I disagree

Exactly. They're always going to be written for lowest common denominator and I get it; they want to sell toys first and foremost and make it easy for kids to digest. But they're talking down to their audience and I just can't get with that. I give every spider-man related thing a shot on principle but these last few spider-man cartoons aren't for me. Guardians was okay and actually kinda layered, but it also fell victim to Disney being Disney
No way people can give a legitimate rewatch and say the show was flawless :mjlol:Animation drops alone was:picard:The writing was legitimate especially for it's time and the music was really good though :ehh:Apocalypse still some of the Goat voice acting :wow:Shoutout to the boy Cable and main cast of Xmen too:blessed:Matter fact my man Bishop and Mr. Sinister had some dope ass voice actors as well:obama:

Yeah its like the animation drops in the spider-man show. when those budgets got cut, they had to get cut swiftly. The one difference I noticed between both X-Men shows is just the level of writing. While X-Men is good, it doesn't get as deep as Wolverine and the X-Men got in terms of themes. The soap opera quality of the comic really came through in X-Men but Wolverine amped up the sociopolitical stuff and really made it a show that had a lot more to say than most expected.

On this note though, after watching both shows, and a documentary on Chris Claremont, he deserves a lot more credit for the X-Men as we know them than Stan Lee. Stan put characters in place and hinted at stuff but Chris took it to another level. all of the storylines and characters and traits we think of today came from him. He changed the comic book landscape, changed x-men, and changed comic storytelling. Dude worked on X-Men for 20 years and was so ahead of the game

Spike was dope to me. They just weren't the most creative when it came to using his abilities sometime. When he came back in s4 with the fire and armor upgrades:whoo::ufdup::whew:

Claremont definitely doesn't get as much love as he should and agreed WnXm did a really good job with the conversation on rights, government policies, and really dove into characters development.

Aint nothing beating xmen on fox.

it aint nostslgia. Just watch the shows again.

it was way ahead of its time with the story lines. It was just deep thinking.

hell even these suck ass xmen movies dont even compare.
I agree. X-men on fox actually adapted popular comic storyline for all its episodes and was part of a fox animated marvel universe that crossed over with Spiderman, Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, and Avengers characters. There is really no comparison as to the scope.
I watched some of these new cartoons and they basically seem like they are just making up stuff for tv only.

Big facts. The Claremont/Dave Cockrum/John Byrne collaboration on X-men might be the GOAT era of any team-based superhero comic in history.

The OG Phoenix Saga, Alpha Flight, Proteus, Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past. :wow:

Lee/Kirby Fantastic Four is the only other run I would put ahead of that era if we're judging ONLY on influence and nothing else.

Fox X men? It was definitely deep because they was focused on racial elements with Storm and Wolverine being together and they ran across racist white folks in the past when Xavier was young.

They had classic stories like Regenesis, Dark Phoenix Saga, Phoenix Saga....Proteus story.

I'm rewatching this series now largely due to this thread. I'm at the halfway point now.

It's cool that they did their own version of "previously on X-Men..." in tribute to X-Men TAS

Them showing Angel getting his wings cut off was tragic.

This is the only incarnation of Bishop outside of the comics that shows him using his powers. In the OG cartoon series and in X-Men: Days of Future Past they show em primarily using his gun.

Sadly, this may be the only time we see Magneto's entire family displayed and recognized as his family.
