As someone that actually had a cup of coffee on an HBCU roster and played against top D1 talent, the difference in talent at the guard positions isn't that far apart...

The problem occurs at the 3,4, and 5 spots....That's when the men get separated from the boys and HBCU's get their dreams crushed...6'3" power forwards aren't the move

:wow:

If you are 6'8" and taller and can play you are going to a BCS level conference......

There are a lot of 6'1" nikkas in the country that can really play but there just aren't enough spots so they end up going HBCU, Division 2 or NAIA...

this is spot on...especially the bolded

i am 6'1 and was one of the more taller players playing juco what was said about an abundance of talent at the guard positions but lack of big men is very true i can verify having 6'3 power forwards. at the end of the day there is only so much talent to go around

This is the key here. As long as these schools stay in all HBCU conferences they're not getting any recruits. If a school like Howard joined a conference like the CAA...:ohhh:

:heh:

If an HBCU wants to compete, they gunna have to improve their PAWG game. I'm sure if research was conducted their would be a significant correlation between PAWG availability and sports achievement.

But for real, if an HBCU or really any non-traditional power house wants to compete. They have to improve their facilities and visibility. It's what the kids want these days. And like others have said if they could possibly recruit some 4 or 3 star prospects that are committed to staying 3 or 4 years, then they may have something.

All of this is true

Some kid would have to have a 6'1 to 6'11 growth spurt over the summer and he just dominates that one season.

I really cant think of any other scenarios.

A gimmick radical offense? Where they play 4 on 5 on defense and just leave a man back down court cherry picking to get layups?

Thats all I got :drunk:

The N.O
fact of the matter is recruiting and exposure
yea u might love hbcu and the environment but you gone choose lsu over southern every time if you can just cause of the exposure and the chance to play at the next level plain an simple plus being in the same city as hbcu's you still gone pull the females that go to them schools
and i hate to admit it but coaching at bigger schools shyts on hbcu coaching

the talent difference between even conferences like the colonial and the horizon are leaps and bounds ahead of the swac and the meac. its absolute trash basketball. there is no way a team from either of those 2 conferences are sniffing a final 4 anytime soon. savannah st and miss valley st were the 2 best squads in the meac and swac last season. they got absolutely ran off the floor against any team with a pulse

I don't think it'll be 5 years but it will happen.

But come to think about it...they'll probably be a 16th seed and I doubt they'll be able to go on THAT kind of run w/o some kind of #fukkery

So true, my bummy grad school made the tourney a few years back we were playing decent (10 point lead but competitive) but the real team (I think it was Kansas) just blew us out with the depth

the meac sometimes will throw out a 15 seed, like norfolk last season. the swac however, is almost an annual lock to be in the play in game, where they are likely to lose before even seeing a game that opening thursday
