I Am A God
Breh I personally think it's an ego trip. For years all of the talk about ducking Pac, and not being as good as Pac probably did something to him esteem wise. I'm not entirely convinced Floyd's character is all that removed from who he really is. All that money talk, flashy lifestyle, smacks of someone who's self esteem is flimsy. I remember fans were booing after the first Maidana fight and Floyd looked kinda shocked/hurt that they didn't see the scoring the same way he did. That said, while Pac got some criticism for fighting Algieri, I think Floyd was watching and taking it personal, thinking to himself watch how they do me if I fight a C+ fighter. It's like he feels unfairly sh!tted on at times and then decides to do the ultimate fukk you by announcing a fight with Berto. Hence the following,

Floyd said he'll fight Berto or Mayfield next. I asked if he was kidding. He seemed to be serious. Said Pacquiao fought Algieri so why not?

Obviously he wasn't kidding.
This is basically just Floyd saying to the fans "I fought everybody you guys wanted me to fight, including the guy you claimed I was ducking for so many years. Now I'm gonna fight who I wanna fight"
I agree with all this but I'd add, I think this is also a fighter at the end of his career who feels done with the sport and just wants to get it over. He knows he's fighting a solid guy but not a guy who's going to push him to hard. I wouldn't doubt that he doesn't really want to fight in September but is just doing it to fulfill his contract obligations and get it over with. Tho I'm sure he'll fight again because in a year or so the money & the demand will just be too much to turn down, it's clear the love hasn't been there for dude for a long time. He was in interviews the night of the Pacquiao fight in his dressing room talking about how much he doesn't like boxing anymore.
Honestly I have no problem with the matchup based on all that he's accomplished but there's no way I'd pay for it on PPV. Should be on CBS for free.
