With Skyscraper flopping, does The Rock need to change his gameplan?

So why all his solo films are flapjacks. Also everyone knows that reviews and awards are paid for in hollyweird. You would have noticed if you wasn't jerking off to Central unintelligence. The boy can't act his way out a wet paper bag. That's why he make so many cookie cutter cgi bullsh1ts. Dis nicca paid for him the whole village people and the blue oyster to see rampage at the village matinee.

clearly u dont even watch his movies, especially since u gave a perfect example of a movie where he showed nothing but charisma .....ever thought that maybe his movies arent good because of the script and premise? Nicca acting like there's no such thing as a bad movie, period

You know what South land tales is a very underrated movie & is faster the one one with billy bob thornton? That was good too, different role for the rock that he pulled off well. And my favorite movie of his is Gridiron Gang, one of the last movies I can recall him actually playing a black man.

Yeah Faster had Billy Bob in it.
It is actually my favorite film of the Rock's catalog.

It was kind of funny how he was pumping up this movie on social media because it was an “original idea” and not an existing franchise. And then they lean heavy into the die hard and the shyt looks like just like a knock off of a bunch of other films

It was a combo of Die Hard and The Towering Inferno.
It wasn't even bad just very forgettable.
At least they realized that it needed to be kept to a tight 90 or so minutes.

JCVD and Arnold highkey are the best analogues for Rocky, his Kevin Hart partnership is more or less a modern day Devito / Arnold sequel. Unfortunately for him the box office doesn't work the way it did back then, and Rampage and Skyscraper aren't no Commando or Terminator. Somehow his natural charisma doesn't really come out in movies, he looks and walks the part of a such a guy but there is something missing.

The US isn't the center of the universe. We're in a globalized economy. If a movie flops in the US but does numbers in China then it's not a dud/flop.

Like someone said, Rock needs to slow down on his releases. When I saw the trailer for Skyscraper I said to myself then, I wasn't wasting my money or time. Rock should branch his roles out a little more. Ballers is a very good show.

the best one i've seen was The Kingsmen 2 the other day and not one person in that was an action movie guy. But that solodolo action star . movie era is dead/dying. you can't compare him to Arnie and Stallone cause that was the height of action movies.

Breh they were both hits tho. The first one made 88 WW on a 20 mil budget and the second made 171 WW on I’m assuming a similar budget. The biggest action movies now if we want to be real about it are comic book movies, James Bond, the mission impossible series, and the fast and furious movies. Oh and fury road.

Action movies now make relatively what they’ve always made in Hollywood. They don’t cost a lot to make and they have a great return. Something like T2 is an outlier not the norm
