Troy Weaver is going to be the best gm for any of our teams in our lifetime. I don't see how it won't happen

Ain't much you can do with ivey if he can blow past you AND hit stepback 3s

Duran is so young and raw, but you see it right there, the potential.

Cade is bossing up with 15 pounds of muscle to finish at the rim stronger and take that second year leap.

I'm looking for a 5-6 seed this year.

Bey got another year under his belt, Killian might actually look like an real NBA player for the most part. Bagley should be solid too.

We done hoping and wishing for people like Sekou to pan out. We are on our way. :mjcry:

Detroit vs Everybody.

A 5-6 seed isn’t happening for Detroit in the East next year. They’re a few years away from that and competing with the upper echelon of teams. 7-8 or the play-in tournament should be the goal.

Cade and Bey would both have to have huge leaps and Ivey hit the ground running in his rookie year to make that kind of jump with such a young squad. It would be an excellent sign of their development of it worked out like that but I think realistically they're looking at mid lotto to play in type team. Then the next offseason they got a ton of money again with a better idea on what areas they need to focus it on. So many options:blessed:

Don’t see play-in as some long shot. Pistons if healthy should be on par with Cavs. East is weaker. Brooklyn is a mess. Hornets without Bridges takes a hit. Don’t necessarily think Atl adding Murray makes them that much better. Knicks, Wizards, Bulls, Raptors have mediocre rosters without the upside that Cavs and Pistons have. If Cade takes the next step like we assume, Bey develops some consistency, and Ivey looks anything like he’s showed so far in summer league against NBA players they have a shot to start winning these close games they have been losing these past two years

I’m not commenting from your point of view though :unimpressed:

I’m talking about what the pistons likely will do. And I’m sure IVY cares about the hype, social media likes and his fans.

You don’t gotta respect my option or think “I know what I’m talking about” but I got a lot of threads on here that would prove otherwise :manny:
U literally in here making up scenarios in your head. You don’t know what that man think. You in here talkin about risking further injury to the prized rookie in meaningless games for social media likes. Man scram.

Cade should be flirting with a all star appearance this season

Pistons need to tank just one more year to complete the rebuild. And also just develop the young core

I think making playoffs would be some type of miracle season like the Knicks had last year

Now see where the Knicks are now, they had a bad year didn’t make playoffs and got Better

I’m not seeing pistons being better than the Knicks this upcoming season and my expectations for New York are 7-8 seed or at least a play in.

Not saying I know what Pistons front office wants to do but I don’t think they’d mind missing playoffs this season if it puts them in the position to be a legit 5-6 seed in 2 years

And of course with Killian, Cade and Ivy all reaching their potential :ohlawd:

And Don’t let Diallo have a break out year :blessed:

The Pistons were the Second worse team in the East last year .

They’re not going to be a playoff team based on these acquisitions

Bucks
Sixers
Heat
Celtics
Cavs
Hawks
Raptors
Bulls.

Pistons ain’t better than NONE of those teams . They’ll be scrapping for 9/10 at best w/ the Knicks (who I think are better), Wizards (who I think are better ),Hornets and Magic .

Y’all setting yourselves up for failure if you think this is gonna be a playoff team next year unless Ivey come in playing like rookie Wade .

During the game broadcast on Saturday, Weaver mentioned the biggest challenge is getting people to be patient and trust the process. This team can maybe compete for a play-in spot but isn't truly playoff caliber yet. And that's fine. The option to get a big player in FA next offseason is there, and is probably the last major step of this process (depending on who is available). I'm glad they didn't do something dumb getting Ayton or Bridges (before the domestic violence story hit the news).

All that matters is the young guys getting playing time and Cade/Bey getting even better.

I respect peoples opinions in here but can we be realistic and stop the playoff talk. It ends up being a lot of the same folks that wanna blow things up when the results don't match expectations. I know unexpected seasons are possible, I was a kid when Carlisle took the pistons to 50 wins with basically the same team (besides cliff and jon barry) that had 32 the year before. Expecting playoffs is wild as hell though man.

My opinion is if everyone stayed healthy last season and still made the bagley trade, they would have been in the 5-7 worst record range instead of bottom 3 territory. All of us as fans make projections and completely ignore injuries being inevitable. Some teams can handle losing players while others can not and thats why i particularly liked the Burks and Noel move as they acquired those two the same day as letting go Frank Jackson and Garza. That is a massive upgrade in talent, veteran presence and most importantly, DEPTH. Noel will be good for 40-50 games and thats all this team needs while statistically, burks will be the best shooter this team has had other than kennard in over a decade and will both will likely be involved in trade deadline talks for contenders.

I sometimes let these analytic GEEKS who avoid watching games and rely on percentages briefly sway my true feelings on draft picks but I will always go with the eye test and the top dawg archetype that puts fear in your opponent when you pick top 3. I was happy Detroit didn't fall in the top 3 if that meant drafting Jabari or Chet. I don't care if they turn into good players, i know they will, but this is not what this iteration of Detroit basketball needs right now. Your team is entirely too trash to consider fit instead of grabbing the best talent and making moves around that. At the same time, I know the pistons were lucky the teams in front of them invested a ton in guard play already because Jaden Ivey is clearly better than top 4 ranking he consistently stayed in. Paolo and Ivey are the type of players you always have to go for when your team is that shytty.

With his shooting and defense, Jabari Smith will end up being an elite piece on a winning team, but even in summer league you see whats going on offensively and what these geeks tried to make you ignore. Non nba players are playing close to Jabari knowing hes not going to create for himself. Surely this will look different when he has the rest of his talented teammates around him but I would rather not invest in a top pick on a player that relies on other talent to open up his talents in the way Jabari will need it. Him going #1 never made sense to me

IMO The Kings/Pistons Keegan/Ivey stuff was a mix of behind the scenes agent posturing (Ivey and Haliburton share the same agent and was not letting Ivey go there) and Pistons did a great job putting the Keegan love out there in case Ivey got chosen by sac anyway. The reality is Keegan is going to be a very good player and worthy of top 8 big board ranking but is defintely not the 4th best prospect and not what detroit needed right now in comparison. If Saddiq wasnt on the team maybe the case could be greater, but a starting 3/4 of Bey and Keegan is very limiting and less dynamic than what Ivey brings. While watching the Magic SL game yesterday, it was very telling that the Kings staff had 3+ chances to create a play for Keegan to win the game and simply avoided it. That is what I look for in a top 4 pick and it admits to everyone you view him as an elite roleplayer at best. No thank you from Detroit.

Blatant (but wonderfully designed:ohlawd:) tank last year. They were likely within play in range otherwise. That is at least the potential starting point for this season :manny:

That's what i'm saying. I watched these games. Master P should be giving Troy Weaver and the brass some chains based on the tank we did last year. Especially after Grant sat down. Nobody thought the warriors were ready until they did it. I'm not asking for a championship. I believe a 5 or a 6 is attainable. Why? Growth of Cade. Comp wise, he's not Luka but he could be a better Brandon Roy. We are long *pause* but there a lot of length on the court. Also, youthful legs. We will catch a few teams on some back to backs, road trips and the legs of the vets will give out. The average age on the team is under 25. Right mix. This is the only thing I don't know yet is how they will mesh. That's the important thing but only thing that can throw off my prediction but I think it will be a relatively seamless fit.

On paper we not better but injuries are going to pop up. Some of these new acquisitions aren’t going to pop off perfectly all year. I think 9-12 is where they can finish but it also depends on schedule. Our team was very competitive right around all star break
