To top thanos it would have to be a bigger threat than him so it would have to be another cosmic being. Ego in GOTG 2 seemed big enough for a galaxy level threat but the only thing big enough left mentioned and connected to all of the characters in the MCU are the celestials.

They are linked to Wakanda’s vibranium, asgard and all superpowered beings due to genetic engineering. Maybe thanos destroying the stones make them reappear. Dormammu out there still too with no time stone fukkery to check him
Bigger threat? Nah..its about writing a villain to their best. Sinister got away with shyt for a long tine..Kingpin too. You write them on a A+ level and everyone will go see them.....Doom presented the right way would be treated by the core fans like an event.

Doom and Magneto are the best answers. I would still love to see Wolverine or Red Skull done right. I know they aren't top tier villains but those dudes grabbed my imagination when I was a kid.

I disagree that Thanos is the GOAT MCU villain to begin with. I think the writing for him was terrible. Especially when you compare him to a villain like Killmonger.

IMO, Killmonger is the best MCU villain. Not only do you understand what he’s trying to accomplish, you also understand the underlying reasons why – and why he’s going about it in the way that he does. Because when you stop and think about it, Killmonger’s plan is insane, probably doomed to failure, and doesn’t really solve the problem he’s claiming to fix. Other characters actually say this. But that’s not the point. The point is that Killmonger has become so angry and hateful that he can’t do anything else but lash out at the world. And this is why he never comes to the more rational solution that T’Challa does at the end of the movie. And the audience gets all of this because Black Panther actually takes the time to explore Killmonger’s psyche, and not just pay lip service to it.

Infinity War doesn’t do any of this for Thanos. We never get to understand exactly what makes Thanos come to the conclusion that killing off half the universe is an acceptable solution instead of, say… using the stones to create more resources. (And I realize this question was actually asked to the Russo Bros.) We understand that Thanos has a mission and is willing to kill his daughter in service to it, but we have no idea what made Thanos choose that particular mission. Because his character isn’t really explored that well at all. Nothing about his motivation makes any sense at all. Hell, for that matter, we don’t even get to know what it is about Gamora that motivates him to adopt her as his daughter. Which really hurts the big moment where he kills her.

When you get right down to it, there’s almost nothing separating Thanos from your usual generic Marvel villain. The only differences are that we’re supposed to sympathize with him for some reason, and that he’s actually allowed to be more powerful than the heroes for a while. I’ve only read the first chapter of the Infinity Gauntlet comic, but even then I understood that version of Thanos more (he’s in love with Death, and kills half the universe to impress her).

They could be better written villains but what else would unite the MCU like wiping out half the universe?? I think killmonger is the best written villain so far cause u understood what made him a villain and wanted his redemption but the GOTG aint flying to earth to help bp fight him

Killmonger is the best MCU villain.
I think Loki is second, than Thanos.
Thanos was just the most powerful villian, but outside of the infinity saga i really have no need to see him again.
Whereas with the other two i could watch an entire trilogy based on them.

Great points, its very rare you get to see a villian basically get the chance to win and obliterate the heros for an entire movie. People are judging his IW appearance alone, and not his IW plus End Game performance. Judging his IW appearance alone gives the appearance that he didn't take a major L,put both together and he took major L's,but people aren't counting the movie where he took the L's. Plus like you said ignoring the fact his ideology didn't make much sense, and with all the time they had nobody ever called him out for being a liar who really just wanted to kill people, because he really could have just created resources. Not to mention Ras Al Ghul already pretty much did the whole kill to restore balance thing in Batman begins. Except he kept it to cities instead of the entire world, which actually made more sense. Randomly killing doesn't make much sense unless the glove just knows the right ammount of people to kill to restore balance city by city. With that said Killmonger just sounded too much like the typical black man angry at the system, who wants cacs to pay.Its really hard to even see him as a villian from a bias standpoint, which hurts his standing. But I rank him very highly knowing he is supposed to be a villian, and Michael B was great in that.

edit-I had to edit spoilers.are we still not able to mention spoilers in other threads at this point:comeon:?

I saw Galactus on a meme and started reading up on that nikka.

Any nikka that eat planets for a living sounds like a fukkin problem

Any nygga that is so brilliant he can create a device on a blanket world to steal Galactus' power to challenge the being who put him against all of earth's heroes and WIN said fight? Well...he is pure greatness personified.

Still got Heath on top.

Thanos solid at 2 though for me.

Green Goblin
Doc Ock
Kilmonger fill out the top 5 for me.

This my list. I'd have Bane up there too.

Also, underrated was Keaton's Vulture from Spider-Man Homecoming

If done right, Kang, annihilus, mikaboshi, or that ugly b*stard that japan loves for some reason could do numbers. They also have dormammu waiting in the wings.
