No one is saying he cant act.... No one is saying he can't be serious. THeyre just saying he might not have been perfect for the role. Every character was perfectly cast and they had great chemistry and screen presence, thats why It became a cult classic.

Would Will and Val Kilmer have had the same chemistry as a Keanu and Lawrence? Would Carrie Ann moss be trinity or would they have chosen someone else to play his love interest instead? would that dynamic have worked out the same? Realistically we probably wouldnt have even viewed the matrix the way that we currently do if Will was Neo, alot would have changed and it may not have had that same lasting effect. Keanu was born for the role, dude was perfect. Will might not have been able to capture those subtleties that made the character iconic.

You talking like the matrix is a good quality trilogy.
First off the matrix only has one good part. Which is the first one.
The second is pretentious nerd tech babble gon completely awry.
While, the third never recovered.
First off i do not think you are cognitively aware about wtf the matrix is\was. It is a black lead property. So, the story and characterization was misappropriated.
Next will had clout to at that point interject and try to fix the property mid filming. So any disconnect he could have had the clout to fix it. if it needed to be fixed.
It was just poor judgement which he has illustrated his entire to pop career. So it was the same more of the same from will as far as being cognitively aware about quality project to project.

Will has never had great barometers for quality.
So this decision made sense and still illustrates will's lack of wherewithal about quality.
His entire career from film to music.

He might have turned down Matrix, but he still said yes to Men in Black, Bad Boys, Independence day, I Robot, I am Legend and so forth. And look at how Matrix 2,3,4 turned out.
