Guess he's just an acquired taste. I don't really hear him trying to appeal to a large fanbase. The times he has tried he fails miserably. It's cool it humbled him and kept him in his lane. Some people are really good at making those big Justin Bieber like records, Kendricks not one of them. . Kinda crazy now looking back how he went platinum with GKMC. Guess he caught lightning in a bottle.

If this was true,then why be signed to the majors and performing at award shows?

As I said I see zero evidence he can't do a big tour. Could he sell out MSG last year with TPAB? No. Neither could Cole after his second album. I'm assuming Kendrick will maintain popularity with his next album and release something the masses want. I mean he's working with Metro, Southside, Mike Will and other big producers alongside Quik and Terrace Martin. He'll be fine.

Kendrick needs to leave TDE though but it'll never happen.
