All those performances were :ehhh:
The writing was superb and he did his best not to fukk it up but his individual performace in those movies left a lot to be desired. Seven Pounds was waaay too big a role for him to attempt. Thats a Don Cheadle, Djimon Hounsou, Forest Whitaker, Benecio Del Toro level role. I Am Legend was hard to watch because of him, I can deal with his portrayal as Ali and Pursuit of Happyness was the best he has done imo and while decent, other actors wouldve killed that role. He benefitted from the great writing and story in that one to me. This is coming from someone who WANTS to like him in movies. Maybe Im just not a fan of his when it comes to him and anything other than action.
:yeshrug:

Yeah I think it might be the last thing you said breh. I don't think those are bad performances at all.

I think he meant the story they were trying to tell with Django, that in that story, he felt it should have been more love based....Im glad he turned it down, Jaimie killed it

Yup. I get why he felt that way...I disagree lol but I feel him. It is what it is

He didn't direct True Romance or have final say on what happened with it though, which is why I believe if it was solely in his hands, it would've been a bit of a different movie but that's just me
who said he did, he was 100% responsible for the story and that film was romantic as fuk:yeshrug:

And what I'm saying is since he didn't direct it, it wouldn't surprise me if Tony Scott changed some stuff or changed the focus or altered things here and there. I could be wrong though since it's so long ago but it wouldn't surprise me if he did. I just don't see QT as the love story kind of guy through and through, at least not now anyway. I think think every story has to have an emotional entry point and clearly he felt Django's emotional point should be vengeance rather the love story and Will wanted more of that than more of the revenge thriller. But he's been in that mode since Kill Bill

I'd say Will is more consistent than Jamie. You could argue Will hasn't done anything on the level of Ray and it'd be hard to argue that...BUT, that's one really good performance in a career that hasn't sustained that. Will has got Ali, pursuit of happyness, 6 degrees of separation, seven pounds (although i was not a fan of the movie) and that first hour of I Am Legend is incredible and it's all because of him. I don't see Jamie being able to pull something like Will did in I Am Legend.

Yeah that shyt is kinda :francis:

You my boy, but:camby:

Jamie in Collateral, Django, Ray >>> those 5-6 Will Smith roles. I watched a bit of Seven Pounds and that shyt was boring. And 6 Degrees ain't nothing special. You tripping. Will could never take on a role like Ray and nail it. He was laughable in Ali. Pursuit is his only role worth talking about. Jamie is the better actor, he does comedy and can kill the dramatic roles. Ray trumps anything Will has and ever will do.

And Jamie has a Best Actor Oscar. What did Will win again?

Breh didn't I say Will probably couldn't do Ray but Will is more consistent? And he was far from laughable in Ali. He was very on point. And you're right, seven pounds is boring as hell but he did well. It wasn't boring because of him, the movie overall was meh and flat. I just don't see jamie being a better actor. So while Will may not have something on his resume as outta the park as ray, he's got more overall hits (to use the baseball analogy) and more consistency at the plate. Jamie will get you a home run or a triple every now and then but Will is good for a consistent double or triple every night

When all is said an done Jamie will have more awards and great roles. Will is done making award movies it seems. That football movie looks garbage imo and when it flops, he'll be back to making Focus movies and BB3. He needs to stick with action movies. Leave the dramatic roles to Jamie to kill.

I'm a fan of Will Smith and all, but..

I wouldnt be taking this dude's advice on creative changes :francis:

Sometimes WIll can just be too safe. A love story was what the movie was about :yeshrug:It became vengeance once Schultz messed up the deal.

Tarantino could/should have built up the wife character more, but she looms over the movie instead of being a fully fleshed out character.

They cut out 40 mins of the movie..so I cant get too upset. It was already 3 hrs :manny:

I would have loved to see Will in the role. Would have been interesting to see if he could pull off the subtleness and expressions Jamie did.

This was just :dwillhuh::mjcry:

Not a word said by Jamie, but his expressions tell it all.
