:dwillhuh: because who would hold him accountable for printing falsehoods? Wikileaks existed prior to Assanges involvement, it started as community/crowd edited repository of leaked documents.

I mean you don't just drink the kool-aid, you must be bathing in it.
He just got arrested, how is he above account? lol

anyone who exposes the criminal activity this government is involved in is alright with me. they tell us we can't see info in the 9-11 report, for "our benefit and to keep us safe"; do you agree with that too?
Are those same people ok with you when the secrets they obtain from the government are exchanged with hostile nation states for their safety? Honest question.

You still seem to be missing the point of his arrest, it had nothing to do with what he "published" rather than him aiding and conspiring to obtain secrets. Journalist can not assist in that function of whistleblowing.

Avenatti exposed Trump's hush money dealings. He also turned out to be a scumbag who may go to jail for a long time.

Any goodwill Assange built up disappeared when he became a russian asset.

Secrets huh? Why are they secrets? Was something done illegally that needed to be hidden?

I am asking you a very plain and simple question, there is no need for specificity or an example.

You are ok with whistleblowers because they provide transparency, are you in turn still ok with said whistleblowers if their "leaks" are used as leverage for their own personal benefit.

Very simple question that is not situation specific.

That is entirely irrelevant to the conversation. The Colonel's recipe and Coke's formula are a secret, are KFC and Cocoa Cola hiding something illegal?

No I don’t agree with like 85%+ of the stuff the federal government does. However, I live in the United States, and Assange has been (moreso in recent years) a direct threat to our democracy. You don’t have to be a fan on the US govt to think he’s a shytty person
