My cousins were raised around cacs. Their childhood was like a classic 80s suburban kid drama on tv
Anyway I went to stay with them for a weekend once and I had some new fresh sneakers. First thing I did when I got there was show them my sneakers. They were legit confused what they were supposed to be impressed by, like they had no concept of swag or creating a social hierarchy based on what brand of tanned leather you have on your feet
I was young but it was kind of eye opening to me
I envied their ignorance (about sneaks) and the fact they lived in a world where that was not even a consideration for them. For me sneaker purchasing was a stressful event cause my parents had a low budget for it yet I had to get something that was good enough or endure the wrath of my classmates/friends. Also the fact I was always jealous of the kids who got Jordan’s and other sneaks outside my budget

As far as the thread, white school age kids don't have a sneaker culture like black kids of the same age. White kids get roasted for other things but unless they're at a mostly black school nobody is gonna check them on shoes like that.
