Why were there more black on black crime in the 70s(before rap) than now?

That lead graph is telling, but possibly misleading. Do we see a similar curve in other countries around the world?

I think the rise of indoor activities plays a huge part. Video games, the internet and yes even hip hop chart along that same general time period where we see crime peak and then fall.

One thing that is noteworthy is how few of us want to attribute this to the get tough crime policies of the 90’s. What if this is the sole cause?

Also noteworthy, integration was also occurring at the time. Black people were being displaced from their jobs and had to find jobs that were below their skill level.

80s was the plan to take manufacturing out of America. Chrysler plant out of LA in 71, Ford assembly plant in Dallas in 70. Detroit decimated in the 80s.

So many factors at play here.

nikkas just want an excuse to look down on black people so they blame rap music instead of looking at upbringing and economical environment of those doing the killing

Even then crime is way down everywhere compared to their “golden age”

Theres more but im lazy

Only the uninformed or agenda driven say that. Before Covid and George Floyd murder, crime was down to its lowest levels since the 50s.

Crime grew rapidly from around 1970s to 1990s for a variety of reasons.
