you have to consider the fact that the virus is 20 plus years old with more than 2/3 of the population is either dead or infected that’s roughly 70% : After several years of the initial virus being popped off if they couldn’t have developed a vaccine or a cure they had to go to Plan B and basically move every not infected person to one part of the world and basically nuke the other part and basically start all over

They already had several people like Ellie who was immune which they performed all sorts of procedures and they still couldn’t come up with a vaccine so there’s no telling that even if they went with the procedure on Ellie that it would’ve produced the cure

The firefighters are not some government to organization there a group of people that came together to form a militia/terrorist group they was not voted in by the majority of the people ; so no they have no fukking power to decide if they want to take a 14 year old girls life
