Brooklyn brawler was the king of the babies
The brotha in the speedos who danced like a clown and waved his finger when people threw him against the ropes was another fav.
Bret Hart really sold his shots too.
Brooklyn brawler was the king of the babies
Luger could have reached the next level if they would have let him keep title for a while after beating Hulk. Don't know why he was always so over. Maybe it was the muscles or the associations with Sting and Flair.
Honestly, he was one of the most well built up faces during the NWO run. He was the ONLY guy that was fighting "the good fight" the whole time and was a constant threat to the NWO
Always thought he was trash but the slamming of Yoko was a cool moment (still prefer when Hacksaw knocked him down for the first time though.)
we will NEVER forgive Luger for beating Bret was a damn HALF Boston Crab. Isn't that the ONLY time in Bret's career where he tapped???
Had to up this because i've been watching old Luger matches and this dude was a talentless hack in the ring and had the charisma of a water bottle. He's one dude who had the look, got pushed to the mooooon, but never had "it"
....Heh, what we used to call the non headliner wrestlers. Wimpy guys.
This summed it up. Luger was mad explosive with all his moves in the early days. He's one of the early wrestlers who got fukked over by politics. He was always pushed to the top but could never get the big win. Hell when he finally got the title it was handed to him with Flair going to WWF and not having to drop it in the ring due to his beef with Bill Watts. Same shyt happened in WWF where they did that huge push only to have him beat Yoko by DQ.I never know how young or old the TSC is, so pardon if I come off as condescending.
The first thing yo have to do is remove the words "Nitro", Narcissist", and WWE from your image of Lex Luger...imagine a different time, an era of big men like Stan Hansen who swallowed up in-ring wrestlers by choking, punching and smashing them.
Now imagine a guy who is chiseled, yet he can run the ropes.
When Luger was in the ring he would show bursts of energy and emotion that you don't see anymore. He would bounce off of the ropes (in the style associated with 80's Southern wrestling) and literally look like an NFL linebacker ready to kill you.
He didn't plod along, he burst, and that distinguished him from the heels.
Every slam and clothesline evoked power. He could also keep you "un-bored" with his submission/rest holds.
These were the NWA and early WCW days. Good times to be a wrestling fan.
