Why was every prominent black conservative in the media pro-Zimmerman?

I really hope you are trolling and don't believe this. Being conservative equates to being a lap dog for white supremacy?

What does conservatism have to do with defending a murder of a teen?

What economic and political doctrine says that?

That's what the OP was saying. You could be a libertarian/ conservative without thinking Zimmerman was in the right. It's the fact that thinking Zimmerman was right that involves being in lockstep with conservative whites, at the detriment of their own race and issues in society.

People can hold their own opinions about whether Zimmerman was in the right/wrong from a moral standpoint. I don't think that necessarily makes them a lap dog for white supremacy. That might be a bit of a stretch.

You're right, but not right in the case of the individuals presented here.

They are taking his side because it's the profitable and relevant thing to do. Those people have a tight rope to walk in order to be the token talking heads.

Why do you think they should be held to a certain position/perspective based solely on their skin tone? If we are truly attempting to erase/fight racism, holding up whites that take "the black side", and berating blacks that support "the white side" of an issue seems counter productive.

You..err we* should be able to present our disdain for some one and/or their position without mentioning their skin color. :manny:

The whole its ok for white people to feel this way but not blacks seems misguided.:yeshrug:

I think the answer is easy to comprehend. You, for unknown reasons :usure: like to play this contrarian game.

When a whole cohort of people go through systematic slavery, oppression, discrimination, segregation, what have you, they tend to stick together about certain things.

The Jews, the Irish, Asians, Hispanics, ALL COHORTS stick together when they are as a whole oppressed. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

Oh i get it, I just thought we were trying to loosen those bonds and become less "segregated" as a nation. :ld:

Encouraging this sort of racial group think, seems like it is doing more harm than good IMHO.

and its not being contrarian as much as being objective... rather than look at an issue and say ok he is white and he is black therefore the white guy is racist and needs to burn, I scrutinize all sides... I do the same going the other way on conservative forums. at some point I'll make a thread detailing the differences between the two :ehh:

We're commenting on the character of their rhetoric....not the fact that they dare have an opinion that differs from the black masses. Do u not know the difference between a principled argument, sound in logic and reason, and an incediary, offensive, disrespectful one? @The Real made an argument for zimmerman's acquttal that was fair and reasonable. I may disagree with it, but nobody is gunna call him names, because he was more than reasonable and he certainly didnt attempt to malign or dehumanize the life of trayvon, or black folks as a whole, in any way like ur conservative friends have routinely done. Cmon, this is common sense 101. These cats ur defending sound like yahoo message board, white nationalist trolls. Do u seriously not understand the difference, or are u just fukkin with us incessantly?

Just to clarify- my argument isn't that the verdict was good, and had I been on that jury, I would have voted guilty. I was just saying that within the parameters of the rules they set for the jury, a not guilty verdict was pretty much assured because logically, there's no other choice when you're forced to throw out all the relevant info. You'd need jurors who were willing to put morals and evidence above the straitjacket of the evaluative framework forced on them by Florida law. In short, the jurors would have had to defy the law in order to declare him guilty.

:ehh: I see.
I read the Sowell column and heard none of that... So it looked like some serious liberal bias. My bad.

U really think its an appropriate position that gz shouldnt have even been brought to trial at all for killing tm? Thats as offensive as anything..

They're simply pawns. I wouldn't pay attention to them.
Seriously, I don't know why people in here are getting their panties in a bunch. Acting like they have never heard anything absurd before. These few outliers aren't the problem

Zimmerman's story was full of holes. There was no way that he should have been let go. And both the prosecution and defense didn't put a full effort into the case. They just did this to pretend like they cared about justice.
