MAGA definitely ain't embracing this lol.
why should they? where are the liberal blue states proving them wrong?

california tried to outlay for this, and by the time the democrats and union thugs got through extorting the budget, it was up like 1000% :mjlol:

china doesnt deal with that bullshyt. that's why they get it done

For certain routes, not every route, it would be competitive to driving and flying, time and price wise. The competitive distance and time is around:
  • 250 miles (more or less)
  • 3 1/2 - 4 hour car drive
  • 70 minute flight ( more or less)

For flights, you have go through scanners, preboard, wait on the tarmac, etc....which a train doesn't have to deal with. You just get on the train and go.
  • So although the flight might be 45 minutes, it's also another 45+ minutes of scanners, pre-boarding, waiting on tarmac and taxi-ing, waiting for luggage.
The best example right now is the Houston to Dallas HSR which is supposed to take 90 minutes with one stop near College Station, TX. The Houston to Dallas distance and time driving:
  • 232 miles
  • 3 1/2 drive
  • 1 hour and 20 minute flight

But to your point for distances that are not competitive with HSR they are working on supersonic and hypersonic passenger jets

‘Anywhere in the world in four hours for $100’

Back when CNN Travel spoke with Scholl in May 2021, he told us his dream was for people to one day be able to “fly anywhere in the world in four hours for $100.” Three years later, he says it’s still his “North Star.”

“If you look back at Concorde, you know, built out of 1960s technology, this was like a 20,000 quid ticket, and it just wasn’t attainable,” says Scholl.

On the first iteration of Boom’s Overture plane, dubbed Overture One, “our goal is to cut that by a factor of four, and be able to have supersonic flight available to the tens of millions of people who can fly business class today.”

can't you just fly? what's the difference? :dead:
I have to go to the airport and go through bag check in and TSA, plus flights to those cities is over an hour, it’s slower, and it’s more expensive.

Airports tend to be in outskirts while train stations tend to be right in the heart of the cities which also adds to the commute time. Plus who the fukk is flying to Philadelphia and back to NY in one day.

It would have a huge impact and expand our possibilities and connectivity.

i guess i feel like the amount of people who would just start taking the train, would chip into that convenience factor you're thinking of

but who knows :yeshrug: maybe they'll do it. i'm not against it

Do you understand how much easier it is to load a train to full capacity than a plane? Plus it’s cheaper.

Plane travel would have to lower fares to compete.

America would become an amazing place in a very short time.
America is all about greed over need. From healthcare, travel, housing… the basis is all about consumerism.

They even did a study saying systemic racism has lost trillions of dollars. Racist housing appraisals, blockbusting, redlining, gentrification etc cuts the nose the spite the face.

This is why this country deserves everything it gets.
